Welcome back!
Step 8. Massage in lotion and cuticle oil. Trust me, do not rush this part! Take time to really massage the lotion and oil into your feet. It leaves them super soft and adds any lost moisture back into your skin.
Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer).
Let's get started...
Here are the supplies you'll need:
A towel
Nail Polish remover
Cotton balls
Sugar scrub
Bath Salts
Lotion
Manicure kit
Cuticle oil
Cuticle remover
Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle
Nail file
Buffer
Pumice stone
Correcting pen
Orange stick
Clippers
Cuticle clippers
Base coat
Top coat
Polish of your choice
Large bowl to soak your feet
I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.
Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work.
Step 2. Fill your bowl or sink (in my case) with warm water. Throw about a palm full of bath salts into the water. Soak your feet for about 10 minutes and relax.
*Dont forget to keep your towel, sugar scrub, and pumice stone handy!
Step 3. After your feet have soaked for 10 minutes. Gently scrub the rough areas of your feet with your pumice stone.
Step 4. Scrub your feet with your sugar scrub to slough away any left over dry areas.
Step 5. Rinse your feet off and dry completely.
Step 6. If you need cuticle gel remover, now would be the time to use it. Apply it on the skin you'd like removed and let it soak for 1-2 minutes. Then rinse with warm, soapy water.
Step 7. Once your feet are dry. Clip your nails to your desired length. Remove any dead skin around your nails using your cuticle clippers. File your nails so you do to have any rough edges. Buff them with all 4 sides of your buffing block.
Step 9. Before you apply your base coat be sure to lightly spritz your nails with alcohol. This cuts the oil we just added and also sanitizes the surface (which is great if you share polish). I put a tiny bit of plain rubbing alcohol in a travel size spray bottle.
Step 10. Now for my favorite part...the polish! Apply your base coat, 2 coats of polish, and finish with top coat.
And we're done! Now you can go out and enjoy the warm weather in your cute little sandals!
