Happy New Year!

Hello everyone, I wanted to take a moment and Thank you all for your continued support. As of right now I am planning on coming back to Adela Told Me... in 2017 (in one form or another). I am currently looking into other blogging platforms, as I have been having issues with the blogger app on my phone. Which was my primary means of blogging. Unfortunately, my life doesn't allow time for me to sit in front of a computer outside of working which means that unless I am on my phone I cannot blog. (boo!!!)  I have a lot of ideas and am excited to see what 2017 hold for us. I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you a Happy and Safe New Year!!! Xoxo, Adela

Faithful Friday: Daughter of The King and A Marine

Hello Everyone, As I was preparing the post I planned for for today where I show my prayer journal layout I couldn't help but feel the urge to write this post instead. For those of you that don't know, My Father and a large part of my family are Marines. I don't know if any of you know Marines personally but let me tell you, they are Marines for a reason! There is just something different about them. They're disciplined, they're protective, they're tough, they don't take any nonsense, and they are ALWAYS at least 15 minutes early. Which is probably why I live by the rule of "If you're not 15 minutes early, you're late!". Now I wasn't an easy child to raise, in fact, I think I am the one (out of 3) that gave them a run for their money. I was defiant and I went against pretty much everything my parents tried to teach me. I know that might be hard for some of you to imagine because my halo shines so bright now (NOT!) but just trust me, ...

What's New Wednesdays: Prayer Requests

Hello again, I wanted to share some news with you and I bet you can't guess what is is by the title of this post. haha!  You might know that I have been feeling like I am being lead by The Holy Spirit to make a change or start doing something. I started keeping a prayer journal so I can keep track of those that I am praying for and quite recently I have felt the urge to start accepting prayer requests. I am thinking about getting up a separate group just for prayer requests and maybe even asking others to join that are willing to pray with me on a regular basis for these requests. As I said, this is a new development so I am not sure of all the details at this point. Thank you all for your support and encouragement. If you are interested in being part of the prayer group or would like to join me in praying for others, please let me know and I will be sure to include you. I am really excited to see what the future has in store for this plan and am looking forward to blessing o...

Faithful Friday: Learning to Love

Hello everyone and welcome back to another Faithful Friday! I hope you had a good week so far. I am looking forward to the weekend. Is it just me or do the weekends seem to be over before we know it? haha! Anyway, today we are going to talk about "Learning to Love". You're probably thinking "What???" but trust me, I'm on to something here. I was thinking the other day of what things have been a struggle for me as a Christian. One thing that stood out in my mind was learning to love others. Believe it or not, this was a struggle for me. I had become a hardened person and I would very rarely let people get very close to me, I didn't really trust anyone, and I was just kind of mean. I can't pinpoint one cause for this behavior but I can say that during my life I have been let down and had my trust broken time and time again. When I decided to re-dedicate my life to the Lord I had a lot of changes to make and this was one of the first on the list. Y...

What's New Wednesday: Let's Talk

Hello everyone! Thank you for joining me today. Obviously you can tell from the title that I didn't have time to do another Halloween Tutorial for today. I am hoping to have time to get a few more up for you before Halloween. Anyway, let's get into to today's post.  As most of you know by now, I started listening to an audio book by Lisa Bevere called "Without Rival" I have really been enjoying this book so far and it has got me thinking about a lot of things lately. One thing I was thinking about the other day was how amazing it is that God loves us despite our past. Then I started thinking about his hilarious quote from one of my favorite movies. (Extra points for you if you know what movie this is from) The reason why I bring this up is because sometimes I feel like my past really hangs over my head and if I let myself I will get so wrapped up in thinking about it that I can't focus on what I need to be focusing on right now, and for me, that i...

Halloween Tutorial #2: Cheshire Cat

Hi everyone, I am back with our 2nd Halloween Tutorial! I thought this was such a great idea! I love when you can paint your face and not have to worry too much about Halloween Costumes because honestly, they're expensive and you'll probably only wear it once and be done with it. Before I forget to tell you... my ears are from Hobby Lobby. Right now all of their Halloween stuff is on sale so I snatched these little feather cat ears up because I thought they would be so cute for this tutorial.  Let's get started! I had to post this pic because I thought it was a really cool effect I got using my picture editing app. I think it makes the mouth look extra creepy and Tim Burton-ish. Here is a real picture of the final look. I am really happy with the way this look came out and I hope you enjoy it too! I applied this look right over the makeup I was wearing today that way I knew that you busy bee's (like me) could pull this look off if yo...

Halloween Tutorial #1 Pretty Pirate

Ahoy Matey!!! Or whatever pirates say. Haha! We are kicking off the Halloween Tutorials today with my  "Pretty Pirate". I decided it was best to go for looks that are easy to recreate and hopefully you don't have to go out and buy a bunch of extra products. All of the products that I used will be listed below. For this look, you will need: Matte Black Eyeshadow Matte Red Shadow (or whatever color your costume is) Gold Shadow Gold Highlighter Dramatic Black Lashes Lash Glue NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Black Bean Red Lipstick (or whatever color you want for your costume is) Scarf- To go on your head) This is the final look... I went with red on the lid because most of the Pirate costumes I see have red in them. If yours doesn't,   then switch your lid color out for the color in your costume. Also, as I said in the video... a girlfriend is dressing up as a pirate family. So if you have little boy pirates in your crew then just use your black liner to make an e...

Faithful Friday: Realizing I Am Without Rival

Hello again, Thank you for joining me for our first Faithful Friday in a while! Today I want to talk about an audio book I have been listening to for the past few weeks. It is called "Without Rival" by Lisa Bevere. I heard Lisa speak at a women's conference a few years ago and I really liked her. When I saw that this book was coming out I knew I had to get it, especially when I realized There was a catch though... I am HORRIBLE at reading books! 9 times out of 10 I will end up falling asleep or getting side tracked. So I was thrilled when I found this in an audio book on itunes. Without ruining it for you, I will say that in a nut shell it gives us the opportunity to realize that we are without rival because God created each of us to do a specific task for Him, or some might call this "a calling". I really am enjoying this book. It goes beyond just finding out what your calling it. it helps you really understand how much God loves you and how special you are...

What's On My Mind...

Hi everyone, Since we are back in the swing of things I thought I should take a moment to catch up with you and fill you in on what has been going on. I have been doing a lot of soul searching lately. I feel like the "lately" in that last statement has been going on for a long time. In my past experience I have noticed that when change is on the horizon, I feel this way. As I have been telling you for the past several months, I definitely know that there is something God has planned for me in the future and I feel more and more lately that it is coming a lot sooner than I had originally thought. I'm starting to get really excited and a bit nervous about it too. I know from experience that He has put me in situations that make me come our of my comfort zone and no one likes that. haha! The crazy thing about that is that even though I want to fight Him the entire time I am facing a challenge, I am so blessed by whatever it is that He has me to do. So now I have a request ...

Monthly Favorites: September

Hello again, Thank you all so much for joining me today! I thought we'd kick off October and me blogging again with a good ole "Monthly Favorites". I have been keeping my make up pretty simple lately so I don't have a ton of products and I even forgot to take photos of some of them because well, I'm rusty. haha! Here we go! Wet n Wild Photo Focus Setting Spray- I am always in the need of a good setting spray. Especially an affordable one! I decided to give this a try for days when I am just going to work or don't really have anything important to do. I didn't have high hopes for this because it's so affordable and it's made by Wet n Wild. Honestly, most of the time I find that WnW products are hit and miss. I either love them or I can't stand them. There doesn't really seem to be an in between. Anyway, this setting spray is really nice. The sprayer releases a ton of product so make sure you hold it a good distance f...
