First Impressions: Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation

Hi everyone!
A close friend and makeup lover passed this foundation on to me so I could test it out and see how I liked it. She and I have very similar opinions in makeup and 99% of the time, if she likes something, I will like it too. And vice-versa. She tried this and wasn't impressed with it. So naturally, I had to try it too. We have the same undertones so I was going to be a good judge to give this a second opinion.

This is the shade we use...
The description is exactly our skin tone. So I thought that this would be a good match. This was a very orange product. The first time I touched the brush to my skin I noticed an orange patch that took a long time to blend out! Not a good start. But we will continue...

As for the packaging and product it's self. The packaging is great. You can see the sifter there. You press your brush into the sifter and a good amount of product transfers to the brush. Inside the lid there is a stopper which will prevent the product from spilling all over the place. I love the packaging!
The product has a very soft and silky texture. Which lead me to believe this would easily blend in the skin. Not the case! Let's continue...

I chose the same It Cosmetics brush I used for my Bare Minerals foundation. It's a perfect brush to apply mineral or powder foundations with. It's dense enough to buff the skin in but not so dense that you can't get a good blend with it.

The application took a lot longer than I expected. Bare Minerals just melts into the skin and can be buffed in with very little effort. I found myself having to go over the same area several times to get an even coverage. Another thing was that I constantly had to dip my brush back into the product to pick more up. I didn't get anywhere near full coverage that this product claims to give and honestly can't imagine packing more of this product on my face to get full coverage! I could see the product sitting on my skin which was very unflattering. The picture below shows my face after I applied a pretty good amount of this foundation. NOT IMPRESSED!

You can still see a ton of redness in my skin and it made me look blotchy because it is really hard to blend.

I finished off the rest of my makeup and headed off to church! This was the final result...(sad face)

My first check in is 3 hours later.
No touching up, no oil blotting. The lighting is obviously different which is my I'm looking more "tan" in this picture. I had oil on my forehead, nose, and chin. I didn't notice the product oxidizing or breaking down. But still, I could see if sitting on my face. Eww!

So let's just pretend that there is a photo below this because I totally forgot to takes picture at the the end of the day and by the time I remembered I was already washing my face. FAIL!
Anyway, I had been keeping an eye on my face for the next few hours and I continued to get more oily as the day when on. Which is typical for my skin. The foundation did start to break down and got a really patchy look to it. Most areas of my face looked like I had nothing on my skin at all.

My final thoughts...
Not impressed! I really would expect more out of a higher end foundation, like this. Bare Minerals performs way better than this. I am going to try this a few more times with different primers and see how it does then but I have to admit that I don't have high hopes.

If you have tried this foundation or have any recommendations on getting a better result, please let me know.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
