Adela Told Me is back!

Hello!

We’re baaaaack!!!!

After 8 years away, I have decided to take the plunge back into content creating and blogging.

Here we go...

To my returning followers, Thank you all for your support and welcome back!! To my new followers, Thank you for joining me, let’s be friends!  Let me share a bit about myself… Hello! I’m Adela. I am a California girl. I am an 80’s baby. I’m am every bit of a Virgo. I do have a real life job that has nothing to do with the beauty industry or blogging. I have a family. I own 3 cats, which is an entire post of it’s own (or should I say own me?) I also have a very large tortoise. I love art and crafty things. The beach is my happy place. That is me in a nutshell, if you want to know more about me, comment below and I can do a Q&A soon.

Now for the backstory of Adela Told Me... I started Adela Told Me as a beauty blog in 2014, I posted 3 times a week until 2017. I stopped blogging then because I had a major shift in my life and quite honestly, I needed to focus on myself. Then life got busy and I haven’t dedicated time to it until now. I have always missed it and I am happy to see what lies ahead for this rediscovered adventure.

Let’s dive into a few questions I’ve gotten since announcing my return…

What happened to you? Where did you go???
I touched on this above but I will dive deeper. Things in my life suddenly shifted and I found myself in a place where the plan I thought I had so intricately created for my life was not going to happen. Basically, the rug was pulled out from under me. So I did what all girls do... I ugly cried and handled it. I moved on and never looked back. Fast forward to current day, I am in a completely different environment, living a completely different life, I am thriving, and I know my worth. Which is the most important thing I gained from this entire experience. I truly believe every person that comes into your life has a specific purpose and is meant to be there for a specific time. You will learn something from your time with them. Not everyone is meant to be with you for the long haul. I learned a lot about myself on this journey. I will share more about that in a future post.

Will the kitties and Jack be part of this?
Without a doubt, YES! They're such a huge part of my life, they deserve the spotlight after God only knows what those poor little souls went through before they found me. Jack (the tortoise) will also get the spotlight because after all, she and I are in it till the end.

What is Adela Told Me going to look like now?
Think of the conversations you have with your bestie over coffee or lunch. I will share real life views and situations as a woman in her 40's. You will learn that I love all the girly things, coffee, baking, I’m a bit of a plant lady, I absolutely adore animals (how I became owned by my cats). I may throw the occasional get ready with me chat in because I am a sucker for those! Being a girls girl, I always push those around me to believe in themselves and realize they are more than enough, so you will see a lot of that. Comment below with any suggestions you have!

How often will I post on the blog?
For now, I have a goal of posting once a week on the blog. I will post more often on my InstaGram so please follow me there. I linked it in my next question.

Where else can you find me?
I have a created an InstaGram account. It is a work in progress but she's getting there! I will post all of the extra things there. I will link it below. Please be sure to follow me there.

I am going to wrap this up here. Please be sure to follow me on InstaGram (click the link above).  Please leave a comment below with any topics you would like me to cover in the future. Thanks again for stopping by. See you next time!

Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
