Hello friends!
Welcome back to another post. I hope you all had a great Easter weekend. This week I will share something that may seem silly to you. When I decided to start blogging again, I did it because I wanted to have a place where I could connect with others to share the things I love. Blogging is more than a hobby for me, it's a form of journaling too. A place where I share my thoughts and allow myself to "brain dump". Over the last 8 years I was away, I always felt this fire burning inside of me to share my wild thoughts and ideas with the world. I shared the story featured in todays post with a major blog supporter/friend of mine and she thought it would be a great idea to share this with you all. So this post is dedicated to the lady I will refer to as "Miss K". Hey girl, hey! Thank you for your support!
Here we go...
You ever get your mind set on something you feel like you're 100% ready to jump in with both feet? Yeah, that was me a few months ago when the idea of Adela Told Me making a comeback came to mind. "It's like riding a bike" I thought to myself. So what do all Virgo's do? I made a "To Do List". Checked off all the necessary to-do's before writing my first "We're back" post. Everything was ready, all I had to do was publish it. Truth be told, hitting the "Publish" button on last weeks post was A LOT harder than I thought it was going to be. I suddenly became very doubtful of myself, hesitant, and scared for the lack of a better term. One thing about me, I am not afraid to fail. Why?? Because if you live your life afraid of failing, you will be left to wonder "What if..." and I am not a what if-fer. I am a do-er. In my career, I am a leader, my day to day life quite literally, revolves around calling the shots and making final decisions, finding solutions to any problem, having all of the answers. So trust me when I say, I can make a call, even if it is a difficult one. And once my mind is made up, it is very difficult to change it (Yeah, yeah, I will work on that LOL). So after reading my blog post about 20 times, picking apart every word, and thinking "No one is going to want to read this". I sat here, staring at my screen and I said "Jump in with both feet!" and hit the button to publish it. And guess what?? It went great! We are off to a wonderful start!
My point in sharing this is, I want to encourage those of you that may be facing a similar fear/feeling. Don't let the negative thoughts win. You are capable of doing anything you set your mind to. Even if it's scary. You will never know what will happen if you don't try. This experience brought something to my mind that I want to share. Fun Fact: I am a Christian. I do not push it on anyone but I will share it with anyone who asks me about it. One of my favorite stories in the Bible is found in the book of Matthew in chapter 14. If you've never read, here is my version of events... This is a story of Jesus calling one of His disciples, Peter, to trust Him FULLY. Peter and a couple of other guys are on a boat in the middle of the water, in the midst of a storm. They were scared out of their minds. Suddenly, they see something walking towards them. A ghost!? Nope, it was Jesus. (Cool right?) Peter says something along the lines of "Hey so if it's you, then call me to you". Jesus calls back to Peter "Come". So Peter steps out of the boat and starts walking on the water towards Jesus. Again, this is in the middle of a wild storm on the open water! Super cool moment! Peter gets scared, he begins to doubt, and he sinks! Peter shouts "Lord! Save me!". So Jesus walked away and let him sink. Just kidding!!! Jesus reaches out his hand to save him and calls Peter out for having such little faith. They get back into the boat and the storm stops. The first time I read this story I thought if I was in Peter's shoes, I would have ran across that water as fast as I could.
My point in sharing this story with you is I think I channeled a little bit of Peter, in a small way, by bringing Adela Told Me back. Peter was scared to "jump in with both feet" but he did and it paid off for him in the long run. Sometimes you have to just jump! I have used blogging to share my faith in many ways over the years. I think the world needs a relatable Christian woman to offer an interpretation of stories from the Bible and I am here for it! So this will be something that is sprinkled in my posts from time to time. I will share a lovely image I found of the scripture below and one of my all time favorite songs. Please feel free to read it to get the whole story. It's a good one.
