Welcome back!
If you read my last post about my recent Rite Aid trip then you already saw this
This is the first post of my "Win It or Bin It" series. These will be in depth product reviews. Are they a winner or a (trash) bin-ner?
Today I'll be talking about the Physicians Formula Super CC+ line. First of all I have to say that I think PF is WAY over priced. It isn't some "knock my socks off" brand. I'd even say that I've had more disappointments than good products from this brand. I have 3 of the products from the Super CC+ line.
Ok, now I'm a sucker for cute packaging. Isn't it cute?!
I really enjoy this CC cream. I've been using this every day in place of my normal powder foundation. It gives just the right amount of coverage, is very lightweight, and doesn't make my combination skin get oily throughout the day. The SPF 30 is a plus too. I normally will apply a lightweight lotion with some kind of SPF in it. So this product kills two birds with one stone. I do use a primer under it because I always prime my skin. I used Maybelliene Baby Skin in this photo.
This is the coverage I get from the CC+ cream. Lately I've had a dry, scaly, red patch on the side of my nose. You'll notice from the photo that you can still see it after the CC cream is applied. I tend to get red around my nose so I always conceal that area.
concealer. I used this on the red area around my nose because it says it's supposed to even out redness.
You can't really tell from this photo but it did absolutely NOTHING to conceal the redness. I didn't dare try to use it under my eyes because my under eye area is very dark. I can't mess around with garbage concealers in that area.
So I went it with the ole standbys. Maybelliene Fit Me and Dark Circle Erasers I use the brightening and fair shade.
The powder is an interesting product. Initially, I hated it. But quickly came to the conclusion that I was using too much product. So now I use a tiny amount (as you can see on the brush) and pat it on the areas I concealed.
This is what all 3 products (and my concealers) look like together. I'm pretty happy with the finished look.
Now, let's see if I would win or bin these products...
CC Cream- Win. I think if you're only going to get one product from the line, you should get this.
Concealer- Bin. I will admit I've only used this once and wasn't impressed AT ALL by it's performance. It did absolutely nothing for me. It's very thin and disappears on the skin. And for $12.95 there are plenty of cheaper and better performing alternatives available at the drug store. (Ahem--- like Maybelliene Fit Me)
Powder- Bin. This was a tough call. I decided on binning it because this powder is very powdery and gives you "cake face" if you're not careful (even when using a setting spray). My advice, save your money and buy a better quality, cheaper powder. Like Rimmel Stay Matte Powder.
That concludes my first Win It or Bin It post. What did y'all think?
Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

This is a great series. I've never been a fan of PF but they do have the cutest packaging -stacey
ReplyDeleteI really wish they would step their game up! Some things (like the Happy Booster Hearts) I love! Then others, infact, MOST things from them I hate. I can't really say I'm super impressed by even these products. I mean, they're good. But the price point is a little (ok, a LOT higher) than I'd like to spend. For some reason though I keep getting sucked back into trying new things from them. Oh well, at least it gives me something to blog about right? haha :)
