Winter Skincare Must Haves

Hello There!

I don't know about you but my skin gets rather lizard-ly...dry, itchy, and feels tight this time of year. As a result, I need to step up my moisturizing game. Today I will share my go to face and body products for the winter months.

My face tends to be the first area to get dry. Why? Maybe because it's exposed to the harsh elements of Northern California. Haha! But seriously, when my face is dry it makes my makeup look blotchy and uneven. Especially my concealer and foundation. There's nothing cute about those clinging to patchy skin.

I switch out my gel cleansers for creams. I really like this Garnier cream cleanser. It makes my skin feel clean without feeling stripped of it's moisture.

I'll treat my dry patches with Nivea Soft Cream. I buy this little guy for $1 something at Walgreens. It's enough to last me all winter. I have even put this all over my face and it never caused a breakout.

I moisturize the rest of my face and neck with a heavy moisturizing cream. This one from Neutrogena is nice and thick. I apply a generous layer before bed and allow it to absorb over night.

Eye cream is a must for me! Unless I want my under eyes to look like a dry creek bed. Seriously, these bad boys need all the moisture they can get! I've really enjoyed this Desert Essence cream. I plan on picking up another one soon.

These 3 are awesome! Now I will admit... I love these year round. In the summer they're great for soothing sunburnt skin. In the winter they take away that parched, tight feeling. I will use the Mario Badescu or Lush sprays before I apply my day time moisturizer (I stick to a light weight moisturizer under makeup year round) to add a quick moisture boost to my skin. I'll even give my face a quick spritz during the day if I'm feeling extra dry.

To disguise my dry skin I'll spray my face with 2-3 sprays of NYX Dewy Spray. Once it sets my makeup I can hardly see my dry patches. I will use this spray year round when I was a fresh and well...as the name implies, Dewy finish to my skin. It's beautiful!

I will switch out my shower gel for a cream body wash. I love this one from Dove. The scent is heavenly and it really makes my skin feel soft. It also makes a great shaving cream.

Body Butter is my best friend during the winter. I stock up when Bath & Body Works has a sale. I find that if I apply a generous amount of body butter before bed I wake up with super soft and moisturized skin.

That's it for my Winter Skincare Must Haves! I hope you enjoyed this post and will try some of these products if you suffer from dry winter skin. What are some of your must have products for the winter?

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
