BB vs. CC Cream: What's the difference?

Hey there!

Today I will explain the difference between the ever popular BB and CC Creams. You may have noticed stores being flooded with these a few years ago. Since then several brands have come out with their own version of these products. I have tried a few and have done my research on what makes one different from the other. So let's crack the code on this mystery...

BB Cream AKA "Beauty Balm"
BB Creams are a light weight foundation with a some added skin care benefits in them. Depending on your needs (oil control, discoloration, acne, etc.) more and more brands have released BB Creams aimed to help your specific skin needs. The BB Creams I have tried are very light weight and act more as a tinted moisturizer than anything else. It does even my skin somewhat but I still find the need to go in with a concealer. They are great for days when you are in a hurry and need to go. One thing I really appreciate about them is that all of them have some kind of SPF in them. Which is great for fair ladies, such as myself. BB Creams can feel a bit heavy on the skin. Almost a sunscreen like feel to them. That is one thing I don't care for. Sometimes I will mix mine with a small amount of lotion to make them lighter feeling on my skin.

CC Cream AKA "Color Correcting"
CC Creams are aimed to specifically help color correct your skin (as the name implies). They tend to be a bit on the illuminated, dewy, or "healthy glow" end as far as finish to the skin. Now you can powder down the skin and take care of that. But then again, if you are going to take the time to powder then why not just wear a foundation, right? I use CC Creams on days when I need to give my skin a break from foundation. I feel like CC Creams still give me enough coverage without feeling or looking too heavy on my skin. I still will use concealer when using this product but no where near the amount of concealer I need when using a BB Cream. CC Creams are also lighter feeling on the skin. They almost have a more whipped texture to them. Not in a whipped body butter type way. They just feel light and fresh on my skin.

So which one is for you? That is totally based on your skin care needs. I suggest reading the packaging and saving your receipts, if you are shopping at a drugstore. If you're looking for a high end product ask for a sample at Sephora or Ulta before purchasing. and don't be afraid to ask for a generous amount! Tell the associate that you want to try it more than once to make sure you like it and it suits your skin well.

Which one do I use more?
CC Cream for sure! I am currently using the Physician's Formula brand. I have a travel size of their BB Cream as well and have found it hard to get through that tiny little size because I have to do so much concealing when I use the BB Cream. And keep in mind that my skin isn't terrible by any means, I mean you poor girls have seen what I'm working with. Haha!
I may try Garnier or Rimmel when these are done.

I hope you found this post helpful. What are some of your favorite BB or CC Creams?

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
