My Cleaning Routine/Schedule

Hello again!

Thank you for joining me today. I don't know about you but I love hearing other peoples cleaning routines. It really helps me tweak my own routine. I'm not one of those people that will spend hours cleaning (unless I have good music on and get carried away, which is rare) Instead, I have broken my routine down to more of a maintenance type routine. It's a quick routine/schedule that I can get done by dedicating less than 30 minutes each day.

First things first,
What is my life like? A whirlwind is the best way to describe it. I wake up anywhere from 4 - 5 am Monday - Friday. I work full time. By the time I get home, I am beat. All I really have the energy to do is workout, eat, take a shower, and go to bed. Unfortunately, life doesn't let that happen very often. So I came up with this routine. Another thing, Mr. Adela Told Me and I used to live in 2 bedrooms with one bath. very small = very easy to clean. Now we live in a much larger home = more work to keep clean. Needless to say, it has been quite an adjustment getting used to cleaning our new house.

So here is how I manage to keep a tidy home...

Monday- Living Room and Downstairs Bathroom
I get home from work and the first thing I do is get dinner started. One thing I need that really helps me is to clean as I cook, that way things never get out of hand. I can't stand dishes in the sink! I wipe the counters down every night. So it stays pretty clean in there at all times.
While dinner is cooking I will clean the downstairs bathroom and straighten up the living room:
I put in toilet bowl cleaner and cleaner in the sink so they can work their magic as I clean the floor, mirror, and counter. I keep the cleaning supplies I use for this bathroom under the sink so I can easily access them.
Cleaning supplies I keep under the sink:
Paper towels
Clorox Toilet Bowl Cleaner with bleach
Clorox Gel Clings for toilet
Lysol Wipes (I buy the Walmart brand. They're cheaper and work just as well as name brand)
Windex
Scrubbing bubbles foam (for sink)

Back to the living room...
Fluff pillows on the couch.
Fold my throw blanket (I'm one of those people that always has a blanket. Call me Linus). Oh, another thing, I keep my throw blankets in a fabric basket on the floor, at the side of my couch, That way anyone who needs a blankey can easily grab one. I typically keep 2 in there at all times.
I will corral the insane amount of shoes we acquire in the living room.
Put the remotes back in their handy little remote cady my mom gave us.

Tuesday-
I do nothing but workout and eat dinner. Yay me!

Wednesday- Master Bedroom and Bathroom
I tidy up our bathroom and bedroom. I will spray the shower and tub with cleaner and let that sit, clean the toilet and floor around the toilet. Our bathroom only has tile in the toilet area. Other than that, it's carpet. I don't know who the wise guy was that decided carpet in the bathroom was a good idea because I beg to differ. I clean the mirror, sinks, and counter then rinse down the tub. I only have to scrub the tub after a bubble bath, which I haven't been taking lately because of the drought! Then I scrub and rinse down the shower. If I have time, I will run the vacuum through the upstairs.

Thursday- Living Room
By now the living room needs tidying again so I will do the same to it as I mentioned before. I sweep and mop the kitchen and living room. Then vacuum the downstairs. Keep in mind, it's just the two of us so there isn't a whole lot of people to pick up after.

Friday-
I don't clean at all on Friday's. I'd rather spend it curled up on the couch watching a movie.

Saturday- Deep Cleaning and Guest Bathroom
About once a month I will deep clean on Saturday mornings. If I am deep cleaning, I only allow myself to spend an hour or two on it. Deep cleaning consists of dusting, cleaning baseboards, and vacuuming the stairs. I can't vacuum the stairs on my own because I tried to once and I ended up pulling the hose too far and the vacuum came tumbling down the stairs at me...and I almost fell down the stairs. Yeah, it was awesome. So Mr. Adela Told Me has to hold the vacuum while I run the hose across the stairs. Team work at it's finest.
If it needs it, I will clean the guest bathroom. I keep the cleaning supplies for the upstairs bathrooms under the sink in the guest bathroom. I keep them in a handy cady I got from the Dollar Tree along with a pair of cleaning gloves, so I can easily take them to the master bath when needed. My cleaning supplies are similar to those I keep downstairs but because there are two showers upstairs, I keep shower cleaner and these cool little Lysol gel things that keep the toilet fresh.
If cleaning is not on the agenda I wont do it and enjoy my day off!

Sunday- Laundry, laundry, and more laundry!
I try to get all of my laundry done on Sunday. ALL of it! It's the cheapest day to do it (at least that's what PG&E says) so I figured I might as well get it done and save money in the process.

And that my friends is how I manage to keep up on my house work without killing myself doing it. Keep in mind that this is my normal schedule. If something comes up and I don't have time or just don't feel like it, I will shift the schedule as necessary. For example: If I have something going on Monday night I will skip chores on Monday and pick up my routine on Tuesday.

I hope you enjoyed this post found it helpful.  If you have any tips to share on your own cleaning schedule, please let me know.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
