Hello friends!
Today I am going to walk you through my powder foundation routine. I recently went back to a powder foundation after battling skin issues for months. The foundation I am currently using is Bare Minerals Original Formula. I'm in the shade Fairly Light. As I mentioned before, I used liquid foundation for a few months during the winter. I hadn't used liquid since high school. At first, my skin was fine and then it started breaking out and was really patchy in some areas. After changing my skincare completely, I decided to switch foundations too. If I have posted my updated skincare routine, I will link it below. If not, then it will come soon! I find that my skin is at it's best when I use a powder foundation (whether it be Laura Geller Balance-n-Brighten or Bare Minerals). After a few weeks of using my new products I finally got my normal skin back!

Before I get into my routine, I want to review the brushes that I use for this foundation. Bare Minerals has some great brushes in their line. I tend to go for a light to medium coverage with this foundation, meaning you can still see my skin through it but cannot see my imperfections. To achieve this look I use a compact round brush. The bristles don't have a lot of movement and they're really packed into the brush. This is the brush I have been using recently and I love it! It's a Morphe M439.
I also use Mineral Veil on top of the foundation. Mineral Veil is a really light weight, translucent powder. You don't have to use this over the top if you don't want/need to. I use it because I get oily in my T-zone and this helps with that. I concentrate the most product on my nose, chin, and forehead then I lightly swirl whatever is left on the brush around the rest of my face. One thing to watch out for is that this can look very heavy if you apply too much. I use a large fluffy powder brush to apply this.
Ok, now for the tutorial!
To start my face I apply moisturizer and primer. My moisturizer is always the same. I use CeraVe AM Moisturizer. Primer changes day to day. I've been using the Elf Poreless Primer lately and I really like it.
I conceal before I apply my foundation. Most days, I use my favorite... Maybelliene Fit Me concealer in the shade 15 under my eyes, down the sides and top of my nose to brighten the area. I also apply a small amount on my forehead and chin.
I blend the concealer in with a damp Real Techniques sponge.
Then I set my under eyes with a setting powder.
Next, I apply my foundation using a swirl and buffing motion. I love this foundation because you can build up the coverage to your liking. It feels so weightless AND it doesn't break me out! Yay!
I top it with Mineral Veil and a fluffy powder brush
After I apply the rest of my makeup I will set everything with a setting spray. This is such a quick and easy foundation to use. I love the finish and another really important note is that it doesn't break down throughout the day like a liquid does. If you've never tried Bare Minerals or are looking for something lighter for the warmer weather, I really suggest checking it out.
I hope you enjoyed this post! If you use a powder foundation- What kind do you use?
Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela
