Faithful Friday: Loving Yourself

Hello and Happy Friday to you!

Today we are talking about something that I feel us women don't do enough of...Loving ourselves.

Let's face it, life is busy and stressful for us. We do a lot of little things that most of the time go un-noticed to others that make life easier for our loved ones. I don't think we take enough time for us. I have made it a point over the last year to make time for ME. To love myself. I don't mean take off to a tropical oasis for a week. I'm talking about allowing time for us to do things that make you feel refreshed, renewed, and re-energized to keep going.

Do me a favor and think about this, When is the last time you did something for YOU???
(Think, think, think)

For most of you it's probably been quite some time, hasn't it?? Especially, you mamas. I don't know how in the heck you guys live! Seriously, just about everyone I know adapts so well and makes what seem impossible (to me) possible. It's amazing to me! So cheers to you, good job moms!

If you are not a mom and still have a busy life, like me. You still need to make time for yourself. I am going to share the things I do to take time for myself. Most of these can be done without leaving your house or spending money.

Sitting in the backyard/looking at flowers:
We have a very lush backyard, our grass area is covered by big trees that made it very shaded and cool back there. We have rose bushes, which I love. When they are in bloom I will walk about the bushes and look for the "perfect" rose. Something about them is so pleasing to me.
When the roses aren't in bloom I will sit out on our patio set and just relax with a nice cold iced tea or coffee. Sometimes it's for 5 minutes, sometimes it's longer. I really enjoy this time of peace and quiet no matter how long I have to sit there.

Laying down for a rest/nap:
I am a big time napper. If I could, I would take a nap everyday. Unfortunately, my life doesn't allow for that to happen. When the opportunity arises for a rest/nap, I pounce on it! On the couch, on my bed, on the guestroom bed. Whenever I can plop down for a bit. I close my eyes and just relax! Sometimes I am lucky enough to fall asleep for a while but even if I don't sleep. Just that time of rest is great.

At home pedicure:
First let me give you a background of why I refuse to get a salon pedicure. I used to get them all the time and then the very nice woman doing my toes decided it was a good idea to try to hack my toe off! She cut my big toe nail so stinkin' short that the skin that is usually UNDER your nail was showing! Yep, gross, ouchie, all of that! My toe swelled up like a puffer fish for a few days, it didn't get infected because I hobbled my way down to Walgreens and put Neosporin on it right away. It took months for the nail to grow and not split down the middle. So I swore off salons. Plus, I like the way I paint my nails better. So take that nail salon!
Back to the point, I really enjoy giving myself a pedicure. I'll grab my iPad, my supplies, head to the bathroom, light a candle and take about a good hour or so pampering these tootsies of mine.
I posted my DIY pedicure routine a while back. Not much has changed since. I will link it below if you're interested.

Browsing local discount stores:
If I am in the mood to shop but don't need something specific (outside of chores and errands) I love going to Home Goods, TJMaxx, or Ross to look around. Even if I don't purchase anything, the thing I like about these stores is that their stock is constantly changing so it's like a new store each time you go. Most of the time, I go with my mom which makes it even more fun. But I have gone by myself to pass the time.

I realize that this wasn't a typical Faithful Friday post, but I find that when I do these things I feel like I am recharging myself so I can enjoy the blessings God has given me. I don't deserve any of my blessings. No one "deserves" anything. He blesses me because He loves me and He wants me to enjoy my life. It is important for us to love ourselves so we can make the most out of our time on this Earth.

I hope you enjoyed this post. Please take the time to love yourself. No one is going to do it for you! What are some of your "me" type things you like to do??

Have a wonderful weekend! See you back on Monday.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
