Faithful Friday: Power of Prayer

Hi and welcome back to another Faithful Friday!

I hope you've all had a good week. Today we will be talking about the power of prayer. I wanted to share this today because as a Christian, I believe in the power of prayer. The reason why this has come to mind lately is because of my mothers recent surgery. As you can imagine, she was very anxious about the surgery. The Sunday before the surgery she went forward and was prayed over by our pastor and several other people from our church. She was in front of me and I had my hand on her back. When I was sitting there I started to get super warm all of a sudden. Like I felt a warmth flow all over my body, which is super rare for church because it is always cold in there! Much to my surprise, my mom said she felt the same thing. It was so cool!

One thing I want to be clear about is that we believe that GOD is our healer. We don't think that having people pray over you means that THEY are healing us or answering our prayers, they are simply relaying a message to God and asking for whatever it is you're praying for on your behalf. I mentioned that because I know there is some confusion about that.

The day of surgery came. I went to the hospital with her and my dad. Before they took her into the OR she asked me to pray over her again. Now this isn't something that I usually do. I mean, I say grace when we are having a family meal and all that but never actually prayed OUT LOUD for someone. But hey, God hears my prayers just the same as anyone else's, right?
I sat beside her in the hospital bed and held her hands and began to pray. Honestly, I don't remember most of what I said but I do specifically remember asking that God be with the surgeon's, nurses, and everyone else taking care of her so the surgery would go better than we expected it to. I also asked that He would calm her. That He would give her the strength that she needed to recover.

And guess what???!

The surgeon came out almost an hour sooner than we thought he would to report that the surgery went better then he expected. Prayer answered!

My mom was calmed before they put her to sleep because in her head she was singing a song we had sang in church that Sunday. Prayer answered!

Then this is the most awesome one of all...
We had been told from EVERYONE that this is the most brutal recover people have been through. She was expecting to be in a ton of pain and they had a really strong pain med ready to go in her IV. She never needed the strong pain med. And no, my mom doesn't handle pain well. She admits that to everyone. Not only was she not suffering from the pain... she got up and walked the day of her surgery, which rarely happens! She saw her surgeon for a 2 week check up and he told her that she is at the healing point where most patients are at 1 1/2 weeks ahead of her!
She has said all along that she knows it is God that is healing her and giving her strength and I 100% believe that!

When I prayed I did it trusting that God would answer our prayers and not only did He answer every single one of them, He went way beyond that! There are no limits to what He can do. It doesn't matter how big or how small your trial is. He can make the impossible, possible. All you have to do is have faith. My mom is an example of His power. I have to tell you that this has absolutely amazed me, which He always does. If you are facing something, take it to Him and trust that He is going to hear your prayers and answer them.

So now you know why I believe in the power of prayer. PRAYER WORKS!

I am going to end this post here. I hope you enjoyed it. If you have a story you'd like to share, please do! I would love to hear them.

Have a good weekend.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
