Nightly Beauty Rituals

Hello again,

Thank you for joining me today. I came across an article the other day on FB and it was talking about beauty rituals. It was an interesting article so I figured I would share mine with you today. These are little things that have become so routine that I don't even really think about doing them but they have a big impact on my beauty routine. I will list each ritual below and if I am talking about a specific product I will link to it if possible.

Here we go...

1. Removing Makeup
I never go to bed without my makeup on and I mean NEVER. I was really bad about this when I was younger. Then I got a horrible case of acne and that got me in the habit of washing my face every night before bed. Sure I will fall asleep on the couch but when I wake up I make sure to at the very least remove my makeup with a towelette of some kind. This only happens about 1 time every couple of months. Usually I will wash my face once I know I am in for the night. Then I do my entire night time routine, which has changed since the last time I posted it. If you're interested in the new one, let me know and I will post it for you.

2. Applying Eye Cream
If you haven't heard me go on and on about eye cream, prepare yourselves! haha. I have been using eye cream since I was in my early twenties. I read in a magazine, long ago, that it was best to start using it earlier as a preventative measure rather than waiting till you have horrible wrinkles and try to make them less noticeable. I have yet to find "the one" so I continue to change them and try new things. If you have a recommendation, please let me know! I always apply a rich eye cream at night because it really helps my eye bags in the morning. Even if I only use a towelette to remove my makeup, I will apply eye cream.

3. Applying Hand Cream
Can you guess what my favorite hand cream is??? That's right, Hand Food by Soap and Glory! I first tried this in the travel size and I was instantly hooked! Since I have purchased the full size and then my wonderful friend got me the mini set for Christmas and I am really enjoying using those little loves. I apply a generous amount of this before bed and it keeps my hands soft. I tend to get really dry hands because the soap we use at work kills my skin! That mixed with shuffling paper all day takes a toll on these mitts of mine.

4. Applying Foot Cream
Soap and Glory strikes again! Heel Genius is my all time favorite foot cream. I purchased this a few weeks ago and I am in love! It has a very interesting texture to it. Unlike most creams I apply to my feet that are nasty and greasy, this one absorbs into my skin and makes me feet feel moisturized without the greasy feel. If you are looking for a good foot cream, I definitely suggest this baby.

5.Applying Lip Balm
I feel as if I can't live if I don't have moisturized lips! I have a variety of chapsticks all over my house, in my purse, in my car, in my drawer at work. I keep one on my bedside table and make sure to apply a good amount before bed. I tend to get a crack right down the center of my lower lip in the Winter so this is a must for me, especially during this time of year!

6. Keeping My Hair Off My Face
As most of you know, I have a hard time committing to a hair style. I've had it super long and super short. Right now I am in the stage of growing it out which means I have to worry about keeping it off my face again. Boo! It's not quite long enough to put into a bun before bed, which is what I usually do when it's long. So for now I make sure to brush my hair away from my face so the oils, products, and whatever else might be in my hair stay off of my face. Why? Have you ever noticed that you break out around your hair line?? That's because of the oils in your hair. Your skin doesn't like those! So keep your hair off your face!

7. Getting Plenty of Sleep
I have alarms set to tell me when it is time to get ready for bed. I make a point to have projects done before that time so when the time comes (8:30 pm) I can jump in the shower and do my routine and get in bed by 9:30 pm. That way I get plenty of sleep to wake up really early in the morning to head to work. If I don't get enough sleep, I feel (and look) like garbage. So this one is very important to me!

I hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful. If you have a ritual you do, I would love to hear about it. I have been thinking about adding a body oil into my nightly routine to help keep my skin in good shape on my body. Although I am good at applying creams just about every where else on my body, I tend to neglect the rest of my body, which is why it wasn't included in this post. I've heard Bio Oil is good but I want to look into it further before purchasing anything.

I hope your week is off to a good start, I will see you back on Wednesday!

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
