Cold Essentials

Hello friends!

Today I will be sharing my essentials for the rather unpleasant times when I have a cold! I have been lucky enough to have my body invaded not once, but twice by this nasty bug and let me tell you...it was NOT fun!

I realize that some of these are well known facts but some of these products you might not know about so I thought I'd share them incase this lovely cold decides to pay your immune system a visit. Haha!

1. Vick's
Good ole Vick's! I smear this all over my nose (after blowing as much mucus out as possible. I know eww! But we're sick, remember?)
I also apply this to the bottom of my feet and put cotton socks on before bed. This makes me sleep without hacking up my lung every 5 seconds!

2. Linus has a sinus wax from Fuss Ass McGee
See! I knew my wax addiction served a purpose! This is pretty much Vick's in wax form. It is potent stuff! I place two cubes in the warmer in my bedroom and two cubes in my bathroom warmer and let it work it's menthol/eucalyptus magic. Sure my eyes might burn a little bit at least I can breathe! If you've never tried this wax before then I suggest starting off with one cube in your warmer and add to it if need be.

3. Peppermint Lip Balm from Goat Milk Stuff
I love GMS! They are a small family owned company that sells... can you guess?? Goat Milk Stuff! They raise goats and make all kinds of wonderful things with their milk. I reach for their peppermint lip balm every time I get sick. In fact, I need to order more! They also make heavenly soap! I absolutely love their company. You've got to check them out.

4. Eucalyptus Essential Oil
One thing I love to do is steam while I'm sick. Get a bowl of hot water, drop some essential oil into it, throw a towel over your head, and breathe! If you don't want to steam over a bowl then take a shower as hot as you can and add a few drops to the shower floor. But be careful! Essential oils are oils after all which means you can slip and busy your you-know-what if you're not careful! Haha!

5. Cough drops with stuff in the middle
I wish I had a more proper term for these but I don't! I got these amazing cough drops from Ricola that had this juicy stuff inside that totally helped me stop coughing. They were mint flavored but not the nasty mint that ends up hurting your tongue after a while. And they were sugar free!

6. Kleenex with lotion
A must!!! I went through almost an entire box of tissues this time around. My nose was bound to get dry with all the Vick's, nose blowing, and other nonsense. These things saved my wittle nosey nose!

7. Chicken noodle soup
I don't know what it is. The veggies, the broth, the chicken but something in this soup is magic! Eat as much of it as you can and you'll be feeling better in no time.

8. Gatorade
When you can't taste the last thing you want to drink is water. Bleh! I always go for the low calorie Gatorade. It's a great way to stay hydrated and keep your electrolytes in check. So drink up, lil pup!

9. Rest
This is probably the hardest one for me. Rest!!! Don't feel bad about neglecting your house. Don't feel bad that you haven't tackled your to do list. Put some sweats on and relax with your blankey! Resting lets your body heal. The more you rest, the faster you'll recover. Simple as that!

10. Throat Coat Tea
I love this tea! I'll drink it even when I'm not sick. I add honey and lemon to add to the soothing properties of this tea. I don't know why I started this but I could have sworn that I read this on a packet of this tea years ago, but I gargle this tea before I swallow it. Call me crazy (like that's anything new) but it works!

Well, my healthy friends, I'm going to wrap this up here. I didn't list any of these below because I gave you enough info to google any of the things I talked about today. And to be quite honest, I'm still feeling like poo so I'm not on top of my game. I hope none of you get this bug but if you do, now you'll have some tips to help you through it. If you have any tips you'd like to share, please do!

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
