New Products: First Impressions & Mini Reviews

Hi everyone!

Today I am going to share some new products. We all know how tempting it can be to snatch everything up when walking into the drugstore with all of the new and beautiful displays. I was browsing the aisles of CVS the other day and came across some pretty cool stuff. I decided to throw in another new product (to me) as well since we are on the "New Products" topic.

So without further or due...I'll introduce you to the new kids on the block (and no I don't mean Donnie. lol)

Wet n' Wild had a ton of new stuff out. 1 Step Gel Polishes, which I skipped because I have more than enough polishes and if I want gels, I am going to use the gel set I already own.
A Setting Spray, I was going to get it but someone had tampered with the 2 left on the display and I was not about to buy one of those.
New blushes, I skipped those too because I have enough blushes and they didn't seem like anything that special. I did not come across the ombre blushes that everyone has raved about. I might have to get one of those if I see them. haha!
There were also some liquid liners and I think a mascara too. I didn't get those either.

Now that I blabbed about what I didn't get (sorry for the tangent, but you're used to it by now)
I got this highlight and contour palette in Dulce de Leche.

This bronzer is definitely more on the warm side. I wasn't quite sure how this was going to look on my skin, especially this time of year when I am beyond pale. haha! If you scroll to the next picture you will see them swatched.

I was very surprised by how creamy these powders are. The only WNW powder product I have used recently has been the Fergie Highlighter so I don't really have anything else to compare these to. I was so impressed by how well they blend into the skin. I have only used the bronzer so far and it was not too warm for my skin tone. Nor did it give me that "muddy" look that some warm bronzers can have. Of course I used a VERY light hand when I applied it but I was really happy with the healthy glow it gave my skin. I have yet to use the highlighting shade in this palette but I am planning on using it soon.

I saw this highlighting palette. You know how much I love my Fergie highlighter so of course I snatched this baby up. It must have been a popular item because this was the only one left on the display.

Again, these are very creamy. They have much more of a smoother texture than my beloved Fergie highlighter.

The only think about these that makes me a little nervous is how sparkly they are. Yes, we want our highlighters to have some shimmer to them, I mean, that is the point after all. BUT I don't want it to look as if the Sugar Plum Fairies have danced their way across my face! I have yet to try these on my face but I will soon and I can do a follow up review on these if you'd like. So let me know if you'd like to see that.

I debated on getting this eyeshadow primer because I was not thrilled AT ALL with the Fergie one. In fact, I ended up having to throw it out because it separated and was disgusting. I took the plunge anyway but only because all WNW was on sale. I am really impressed by this primer so far. It is similar to the Milani one I have but it dries down to almost a velvet/matte finish on the skin. Now all we have to wait on is to see if this one breaks down and separates as time goes on.

I included a back of the box so you can read the product claims.

I didn't have to think twice about this one. I have been a long time fan of lash primers and I figured that if I can find a good one that is affordable then I am all in! I tried this for the first time a few days ago and I topped it off with the mascara I talk about next. I think it works well. I can see that if you don't have a mascara that really defines your lashes that this can become a clumpy mess.

I figured since I showed you the back of the packaging on the last product that I might as well include this one too.

This product is the typical white kind of primer. I applied a good amount of this product to my lashes and let it set for a few minutes before going over the top with mascara. It covered the white nicely and wasn't clumpy at all.

Now for my other new product. The Rocket. I have heard so many people rave about this mascara. I really like it and it does build up volume faster than my favorite Lash Sensational. The only thing I don't like about this mascara is that the tips of my lashes start to point down as the day goes on. I am wondering if the same thing will happen when it's applied over the primer. (I am writing this post on the day I tried the primer under this mascara and I do not know if I will remember to update again before I post this) I am going to keep using the tube up because the formula is really good and I love the way it makes my lashes look. I am curious though, if this happens to your lashes when you use this? Let me know below.

And we are done! Those are the new products I have played with lately. If you have tried any of these I would love to hear your thoughts.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
