Faithful Friday: Fruit of The Spirit: Gentleness

Hello again,
Today we a chugging right along with our FOTS Series. Hard to believe that we only have one more left after this (tear).  I think we can all agree that we have been loving and learning from this series.

Let's get started...

Today we are talking about Gentleness

The dictionary defines "Gentleness" as- The quality or state of being gentle; especially, mildness of manners or disposition.

What is the first thing you think of when you hear the word "gentle"?  Perhaps it's a mother holding a baby? But let's think beyond that...God is the perfect example of gentleness. Think about how gentle He was/is with you when you sin. Let's go back to the image of the mother and the baby for a second. (Trust me, guys. I am going somewhere with this) Imagine that little baby...a brand new life, perfect in every way, wrapped in a blanket, smelling like that amazing baby smell. Picture a woman picking up that precious little baby and holding it ever so gently. Imagine the love that she feels for that child. How amazed she is at the one who created them. Now imagine the Lord looking at you the same way. Whoa! If that didn't bring a tear to your eye I don't know what will! (See, told ya I was going somewhere with that)

When Jesus met the woman who was caught in adultery what did He do to her? He didn't shame her, He didn't sentence her to death. He told her "Go and sin no more" That is gentleness! He has called us to have a spirit of gentleness, just like Him.
John 8:1-11

How can we apply gentleness to our daily lives?
This can be tough, especially when you're a no nonsense kind of gal, like I am. I think you have to have a certain degree of humility if you are going to show gentleness. We have to be able to humble ourselves and remember that no matter what the circumstance is- we must remain true to our faith. Another thing is that we are humans and this world can be an ugly place, filled with hateful people that we come in contact with. We get upset, we say things we shouldn't say- and while we are on this topic, if you say something hurtful or something you know you shouldn't have said then apologize for it as soon as you realize you've made a mistake. Then make sure that you don't do it again. Those words aren't erased from their brain. They stick with people- so watch your mouth! (I'll get off my soap box now)
It is important for us Christian's to have an attitude that displays God's gentleness to others. Say that we find out one of our friends has been cheating on her husband. Would you want to kill or punish her like they wanted to do to the woman caught in adultery? Or would you display gentleness?
See what I mean? God has no problem giving us tough love when we need it but He ALWAYS does it with GENTLENESS. We know that if He does lay down the law on us (so to speak) that He is doing so with love. So try to remember that next time you're dealing with someone that is testing your patience.

I hope that you all enjoyed this post and have a wonderful weekend! I will see you back on Monday.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
