How to Meal Plan

Hi everyone!

Today I am going to share the way I meal plan. Before I get into the planning details I am going to explain our eating habits. We eat a high protein, low carb diet. Which means, for us that we don't eat any bread, rice, grains, pasta, or anything like that. It's mostly protein (chicken, beef, fish) and a ton of fruits and vegetables. Therefore, our meals are pretty easy to plan. Regardless of how your family eats, you will be able to successfully plan these meals when you use my system (doesn't that sound like an infomercial)

We need to do 2 things before we plan our meals...

1. Make a list of meals you eat a lot (Meaning your go to meals- the ones that your family likes)
Mine is similar to this:
Taco Wraps
Honey Mustard Chicken w/Veggies
Crockpot Roast
Crockpot Verde Chicken
Salads w/Chicken

You get the idea, right?

2. Make a list of ingredients(I didn't include salt and pepper and spices that I have on hand but I did make sure to include ingredients that I need to get from the store)
I took the same list from above and added a list of ingredients under each meal. Simple enough!

Then I stuck the two lists to the inside of my pantry door so I can give them a quick glance when I am planning our meals.

Now that we have that done, we can get to the actual meal planning!

I usually plan a weeks worth of meals at a time. If I can't plan from the top of my head, I look at my list of meals. After I have planned each meal, then I make my grocery list. This makes grocery shopping so much easier for me! and it also helps to save money because I'm not buying a bunch of stuff that I won't use. I know this seems way too simple, but if you are a list keeper or are so busy that it's hard for you to keep all of these meals in your head then put in on a list and don't worry about it!
Some of you might have noticed that I only did this list for dinners and that is because we rarely eat breakfast or lunch at home.

Another tip: Try to make left overs when you can, especially on nights when you have stuff going on.  I try to shoot for left overs (especially when I am making taco wraps) at least once a week. I cook extra meat and cut up extra toppings so they're ready to go the next day. I'll include a delicious photo for your enjoyment below :)

I hope that you all found this helpful! Although it is a very simple concept, it has made my life so much easier. Sometimes I even let Mr pick what he wants for dinner and that takes even more of the work off of me. So if you all have kids, it'd be a fun way to get them involved, maybe ask each one of them to pick a meal and then ask the husband too. Then planning 7 meals doesn't seem like such a chore.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
