Hello again!
The eye shadows in the picture above are some singles that I have had for quite some time now. Unfortunately for them, they got lost in the shuffle of new makeup and got crammed in a drawer. The other day I was going through the makeup on my vanity and was reminded of how great these shadows are. So I decided to make it a point to use them and share them with you.
If you're not part of the "Adela Told Me..." group on Facebook then you totally missed out on the video I did for this post! So be sure to head over there for live swatches.
Let's get the swatchin'
First up are Maybelline Color Tattoos.
I LOVED these things! There was a period of time when I couldn't do my eyeshadow without these. Which is very apparent by the major dent in the "Barely Beige" one. These are the perfect base for shadows or can be worn alone if you want a shadow look that's going to stay in place. I know they have started making these in the jumbo pencil/shadow stick now and I have not been to the drugstore for a while (I know...GASP!) so I am not sure if they're still in this packaging. But if they are still available, you should give them a chance if cream shadows are something you're into.
The formula on these are very nice and keep in mind that I've had these for a few years now. The "Barely Beige" and "Bad to the bronze" are just starting to dry out but are still very usable.
These L'Oreal infallible shadows are a great drugstore shadow! I am blown away by the pigmentation of these babies! They come in a great array of colors too. For right now, this is the only one I own and I love this color!
I mean, can you believe how metallic that is?! The shine this gives off is beautiful on the eyes! I apply this to my lid with a finger to get the most pigmentation out of it. So pretty!!
I've gotten a lot of use out of these two shadows. Although j don't understand why they're called "gel shadows" there isn't anything gel-like about them as far as I can tell. They are very much powdery as any other eyeshadow. But the pigmentation on these is great too!
I've used Bella Champagne (it's spelled incorrectly in the photo haha) for a brow bone and inner corner highlight and it's so pretty!!! Bella Espresso is a great for a one shadow look. I pat it on the lid with a flat brush, I use a rounded brush to apply it into the crease, and then blend the outer edge with a fluffy brush. Done! I can't believe how creamy these are! They give you a ton of color with very little product. Because they are so creamy, I have to set these with a shadow. Otherwise, my eyelids will be crease city. As I said in the video- there are no names on the products. I'm guessing it was on the packaging which is long since gone.
These are both very pretty! And they are very affordable.
I could have so many of these if I let myself! Thankfully there was a sale and I was in a hurry when I bought these. Haha! These are a roll on shimmer. Now you can roll them onto your lids but my preferred method is to apply them to my finger tip and press them on my lid. They are packed with shimmer and glitter.
These pictures don't do these shadows justice. There is so much shimmer and glitter in these that you can't believe it!
Last but not least we come to the NYX Prismatic Shadows. These things are so pigmented and have a great texture to them. If you didn't know, you would think this was a high end shadow. I'd say that these are at the top of the drugstore shadows in my opinion.
"Girl talk" is beautiful as an inner corner highlight. I've also applied this to my lid using a finger tip and this baby packs a punch! I can't even handle how beautiful "Bedroom eyes" is! I did a tutorial using this shadow last Fall and it was such a pretty eye look. Something about this shade makes any eye color pop. Love!
I was thinking that this might be a fun series to do on the blog over the next few months so let me know if that's something you're interested in. Please let me know if you've tired any of these.
Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela
