Monthly Favorites: August

Hello everyone!

Thank your being patient while I took a short break from blogging. I will give you an update on what was going on in a different post but today we are talking about August favorites! I know it's late, but there were just too many good products not to share. Some of you may have seen the video I posted about these products already. If you don't know what video I'm talking about then please join the "Adela Told Me Blog Group" on Facebook. I post a lot of fun extras there!

On to the favorites...

Hempz Body Lotion-
I saw these as I was browsing Ulta's website and decided to give them a try. I used to use the original formula of this a long time ago when I'd go tanning. I know it's horrible for you but I was young and dumb! Word of wisdom: don't go tanning! Anyway, I couldn't decide which scent to go with so I got all 3 of these small sizes. I'm not sure if these come in full size because I didn't take the time to check online but I can say that they all smell amazing! I only apply these during the day and they soak in nicely like I remember from back in the day. My one complaint is that the scent doesn't last very long. Within an hour I can't really smell it anymore which is a bummer. Maybe that is typical for this kind of lotion or maybe I'm just spoiled because Posh body butters have a scent that lingers hours after I apply it. Either way, these are nice lotions and I'm really enjoying the fruity scent they give off, even if it's just for an hour or two.

Too Faced Natural Matte-
I can't get enough of this palette. These shadows are so good and I love how wearable the colors are. You can create a variety of looks with this one small palette. This palette is well loved and worth every penny! The shadows are a bit powdery but they blend well. I love this thing!

Milani Brow Fix Kit in Light-
I'm pretty sure this has made favorites before but maybe not in a brow and shadow kind of way. I've been using this on my brows and for a quick and pretty shadow look for work. Brows are self explanatory but for the eyes I use a fluffy brush and apply the middle shade to my crease, I apply the dark shade in my outer corner, use the highlight shade on my finger for the lid and inner corner. Slap on some mascara and I'm done! It's really easy, really fast, and it makes me look awake which is a necessity for me.

Makeup Revolution Baked Blusher in Loved me the best-
These blushes or should I say "blushers" are SO PRETTY!!! I've been a fan of baked blushes for years now thanks for Laura Geller but these are very affordable and come in a pretty good range of colors. Rumor has it that these are sold in Ulta stores but I have yet to see a display in my local stores. I order mine online which was a huge fail for the other blush that I ordered with this one. It came completely broken and ruined. Boo! This color is gorgeous and gives the skin the prettiest glow. I don't feel the need to use a highlighter when I wear these because they're so glowy on their own. I believe these are $5 which is a steal! Get your hands on these NOW!

Gorgio Armani Si-
Oh my oh my OH MY! At first sniff I didn't really care for this perfume because I thought it smelled like an old lady. Then I accidentally sprayed this one day before church and I couldn't stop smelling myself! It's an addicting scent. At least to me. So addicting that I put a sample on anytime I'm in a store that carries it. If you smell this give it a chance to adjust to your ph. I rolled some on in Ulta and my friend said "eww that smells like an old lady" and hour later I had her smell it and she really liked it. It's definitely for those of you that prefer a more musky/amber/darker scent. Some of you may remember Gucci Rush, it's that kind of scent!

Cackle Spackle-
Perfectly Posh has completely changed my skin! I'm serious guys, my skin is the best it's ever been. This mask plays a huge part in my skincare routine. I have been using this at least once a week for the past few weeks. Here's a little back story: posh retired my favorite face wash called "Complexion Perfection" so I was getting down to my last tube of it and decided I'd be smart and use an old faces wash that used before Posh came into my life. HUGE MISTAKE! Texture, break outs, dry spots! You name it and it was happening to my skin. So I've been using nothing but Posh for the past few weeks to clear it up and get it back in shape. We are almost back to normal! This face mask help clear up all of the little pimples I was having and balance out my skin. My favorite thing about this mask is that you can feel it working. It really tingles for about a minute when you put it on and I just know it's working its magic to get deep down into my pores and detoxify my skin. I love this mask!

Girls Gone Green-
This is another recited Posh product and I am so thankful I purchased a backup before it was gone. This scent is very fresh yet musky. I love how long this scent lingers after I've applied it. For example, I apply this before bed and it not only makes my skin feel and smell amazing but it also leaves my sheets smelling so good! I don't shower when I wake up because I shower at night and I can still smell this on my skin during the day. I don't get itchy because it deeply hydrates my skin and it doesn't make me feel greasy which I really love. Posh body butters are where it's at! This product is no longer available on the site so I linked to the body butters below. I have tried their new formula in "Snuggle Buddy" and it's just as good!

TresEmme Hair Mask-
I've been trying to pamper my hair since I've been growing it out. I'll admit that I didn't use deep conditioners very often when my hair was short because it'd get so greasy. I got this because it was affordable and smelled really good! I apply this to the ends of my hair about once a week and I've really noticed a difference. My ends don't seem as dry as they we're before I started using this.

Wood Craft Candle in Paradise Spa-
My girlfriend and I have started a little tradition of going to the Dollar Tree together. A really awesome one just opened up in our area and we get so excited to go. We stumbled upon these wood wicked candles and picked one up to try. Much to our surprise these candles are very fragrant! And they make the coolest crackle sound when they're lit. This one I've been using in my beauty room and it fills the room with a very clean and relaxing scent. I also have an Apple Chai one downstairs that smells just as strong. We both have been very impressed with these and always stock up when we're in the store.

Waikiki Beach Coconut Body Spray-
Another friend of mine have a little tradition of visiting Bath and Body Works during their semi annual sale. We usually get a coconut kind of scent in a body spray because we both love that kind of scent! This is the one we got last and I love this scent! It's the perfect balance of coconut and freshness. I have been wearing this to work a lot lately and I really like it! Of course this isn't on the website but I linked something similar.

Freesia Body Wash-
Talk about a throwback fragrance! I wore the heck out of this scent in high school. So much so that I would carry the body spray in my back pack for touch ups. (Not kidding) of course I snatched this and the body spray up during the semi annual sale because it smells so good! It's very fresh and a hint of floral. I can't get enough of it.

Batiste Dry Shampoo-
I've been using a lot of dry shampoo lately because I've only been washing my
hair every 2-3 days. This is my favorite dry shampoo because it really helps control my oil without weighing my hair down. It does leave a white cast so I make sure to really take my time to massage this into my scalp. The scent of this is nice and coconut-ty but it's not so strong that it gives me a headache. If you're in the market for a good and affordable dry shampoo you've got to give this a try.

Maybelline Fit Me Powder-
I use this powder to set my t-zone and I really like it. It feels like a very expensive powder but it's not! It doesn't look powdery at all on my skin and it's great for touch ups.

Milani Eyeshadow Primer-
This is my favorite primer hands down. You can't beat the price, you get a ton in the tube, and it clings on to shadows like crazy! I need to get a new one soon because this little thing is almost empty.

Wet n Wild Setting Spray-
Someone on YouTube said this was good so I decided to give it a try. I'm really glad that I did. It does spray a ton of product so don't go crazy with the pumps you use. I've been using this for work and it helps to control my oil during the day and keeps my makeup looking fresh. It's really good stuff!

NYX First Base Primer Spray-
Another thing I've been using before work. I spray this all over my face and let it dry for a few seconds before starting my makeup. This is a really fast way to prime your skin. It doesn't do anything to help with pores though so if that's an issue for you, I'd use a pore filling primer before using this. But for day to day it's good!

elf Prism Palette-
I'm pretty sure this has been in a favorites before because this palette is so good! All of these shadows are super metallic and pretty. I love to use these for one shadow looks when I am in a rush. I believe this is $10 but I got mine during a sale which makes it an even greater value. It comes with a mirror inside which makes it great for travel too. I really want to look into the other colors they offer in this because I've gotten a lot of use out of this palette.

Essence Lash Princess-
As I said in the video, I sent this mascara to my girlfriend for her birthday because I heard it was really good and she and I have a love for mascara. We both really like this mascara! It's really dark and it makes your lashes stand out with very little effort. It's perfect for lengthening and separating lashes without making them look clumpy. And of course, it's super affordable!

Milani Lipstick-
I'm not sure if Milani has any other kind of lipstick but these are the only kind I have tried. I own several of these and they're all great! They offer several different finishes, are very hydrating, and have a great range of colors. They smell like watermelon to me which I love and they feel so comfortable on the lips. I've been wearing these a lot lately and definitely will be picking up some more colors soon.

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
