Fresh face/Quick and easy makeup

Hello and Happy Wednesday to you all!
This is my take on a fresh face of makeup.

Let's face it, we don't always have or feel like spending hours getting ready. Some days we need a get up and go routine. I'll show you how to accomplish this look in a few easy steps.
No harsh liner or eye shadow here. Instead, a lightly defined eye and rosy cheeks. I've been wearing this look a lot lately.

Of course we start with the basics: a clean, moisturized face. Then apply your primer. No matter how much of a rush I'm in I always prime my face. Smoothing out the skin takes away the need for a full coverage foundation (unless you prefer that).

I've used this primer for about 2 weeks now. There are a lot of mixed reviews on it. I actually like it. It does have a very silky texture to it. I can't say that it "Erases pores" but it does have a smoothing effect to the skin.

Next apply concealer (Maybelline Fit Me in 15 Fair) to under your eye area in a triangle shape and lightly apply your foundation. Because I use a powder foundation (Balance -n- Brighten by Laura Geller) I can choose how much coverage I want by building it up. You could use a B.B./C.C. Cream or tinted moisturizer instead of foundation.

If I have a some extra time, I lightly fill in my brows. I really only fill in the sparse areas. I get my brows colored when I have my hair dyed so that helps them stand out on their own. Apply clear mascara or brow gel to hold them in place.

This little quad is such a score! L'Oreal's Cupa Joe. If you've followed me for any length of time you know how much I LOVE my Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette. This quad is a great option if you don't want to splurge on that. It contains 4 matte shadows that are very similar to some of the Naked Basics shadows. Don't forget to prime your lids! I use Jordana 12 hr made to last eyeshadow pencil in Continuous Almond as a primer.

Remember we are only lightly defining the eye with this look. So grab your big fluffy eyeshadow brush (I'm using a Sigma E40 Tapered Blending Brush) and let's go!
Take the lightest shade and apply it all over the lid. From lash line to crease. This will really brighten and open up the eye.

Using the same brush take the medium brown shade and lightly apply in your crease using windshield wiper motions. Don't forget to tap the excess product off your brush before applying it. We don't want any fall out (little pieces of shadow) on our pretty faces.

Take the same brush again and dip the very tip of the bristles into the darkest brown. Apply this is the outer corner using small circular motions. Then blend, blend, blend. Till you have no harsh lines.

It should look something like this. The idea here is to not "look" like you have a bunch of makeup on. We're just enhancing our natural beauty.

Curl those lashes! This is my favorite eyelash curler and I got it for $1! It's by E.L.F. You can get them online at www.eyeslipsface.com or at Target.

Let's define our eyes a little more by adding a soft, smudgy eye liner. This is my favorite liner when I want a soft look. Rimmel's ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal liner in 003 Brown. Lightly line your upper lash line. It doesn't have to be perfect. We're going to smudge it out. It's best to do one eye at a time. Line it then skip to the next step, and repeat on the other eye. Otherwise, your liner will dry and trust me, it's a mess after that.

To smudge our liner take a pencil brush (Sigma E30), angeled brush, or any small densely packed brush. You could even use a Q-Tip if you want. Smudging is just running your brush back and forth in short strokes till you have a blended line. You can smudge as little or as much as you'd like till you achieve the look you want. Be careful not to poke your eye with your brush (like I did right after I took this photo. Haha!)

See, all smudged!

Apply Mascara. Covergirl Clump Crusher is my favorite!

Apply nude liner in your lower water line to open up your eyes. Rimmel ScandalEyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal in 005 Nude.

We need some color in our faces. I like a natural flush for this look. I use an old favorite for this. Covergirl Cheekers Blush in 110 Classic Pink. I love this color! And as weird as this sounds, I love the smell too. It totally takes me back to playing with makeup as a little girl. Apply your blush with a blush brush to the apples of your cheeks and sweep back towards your temples. Make sure to blend. The key to blush is starting with a little and add more till you get the color you want.

Last apply a light/natural colored gloss. Almay Liquid Lip Balm in Nudetrients. This is a very sheer light pink gloss. I always carry this with me because it lasts a long time and isn't sticky.

And we're done! Go out and tackle the day with your fresh beautiful face!

Thank you so much for stopping by. I hope you enjoyed this. Please feel free to ask me any questions you may have.

Until next time

Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
