Hair Tips

Welcome back!
I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.
Today I'm going to talk about hair. First of all, let's discuss my hair. I've had mine long, short, and everything in between. Currently my hair is short. I have to say I am in LOVE with my short hair! My hair is very thick and has an ugly natural wave to it. (Seriously- it's ugly). So I have to style it no matter how long or short it is. This is my hair now...

Isn't it beautiful?! I absolutely adore my hair stylist. She is a long-time friend which is a total bonus! If you're in the Sacramento area or willing to travel, you should look her up. She is the owner of Stella Salon, Leah Villagran.

Now let's talk products.
These are the Shampoo and Conditioner I am currently using. Why so many? Because I like to switch it up! The L'Oreal (left side) are sulfate free. Which helps tame frizzy hair, like mine.
The Kevin Murphy (right side) were Christmas gifts from Leah (I'm telling you, the girl spoils her clients)

Another important hair tip is to NOT wash your hair everyday. Don't gasp! It really does change the condition of your hair. Especially if it's color treated. I can generally go 2-3 days between washes.

So what do I do between washes to keep my hair fresh? I'm glad you asked!
Dry Shampoo, baby!
These are the ones I have at the moment. I'll say a little bit about each one. (From left to right)

1. Garnier Fructis- Volume Extend
This has a fruity scent but it's not over powering. The last thing I want to smell is the strong scent of a dry shampoo. This does help with volume. It has a gray/white cast to it. So if you have dark hair like me, make sure you massage it into your scalp before you leave the house. Out of the 4 shown here, I'd say this is my 2nd favorite. I'd repurchase it.

2. Dove- Refresh+Care
This has a fresh scent and I have to say it's very strong! It gives me a headache sometimes when I use it. It also leaves a gray/white cast on my hair. It gets clumpy throughout the day which I can't stand! Definitely my least favorite from the bunch. I won't repurchase.

3. Batiste- Dark & deep brown.
This one is by far my favorite! Has a very fresh scent and as the name implies, comes out a dark brown color. No more gray/white cast. Yay! It maintains it's freshness all day. I picked this up at TJ MAXX on a whim and I will definitely repurchase it. It's also sold at Ulta on the drugstore side.

4. No Drought by LUSH
This dry shampoo is non-aerosol. It actually comes out as a powder. You can sprinkle it directly on your scalp or pour some into your palm and then massage in. This one works well but can clump up throughout the day. I can't say I'll repurchase it for two reasons...1. I've had it for over a year and still have a ton left. 2. I like Batiste more.

Onto the styling products!
Because my hair is so short I don't have to use a lot of styling products. (I'll share my must-have styling product in a moment)

Got2b-Powder'ful- it's great for the days when you want extra volume. You sprinkle some into your hair in the areas you'd like volume and massage it in. I'd repurchase.

Pantene BB Creme- this is a 10 in 1 product. It heat protects, helps with frizz, and a bunch of other things. I use this on wet hair before I blow dry to help calm frizzy hair down. I'll continue to repurchase until I find something I like more.

Tresemme- Tres Two Hair Spray
Favorite hairspray hands down! It's the only hairspray I use. It's not sticky, not heavy, and helps hold your style in place all day. I've repurchased numerous times!

And the All-Star aka Must-have product!
Leah got me hooked in this stuff and I use it everyday! The description is on the product so I'll skip that part. If you have short hair this works wonders! You can smoothe your style or make it piecey. It smells amazing! Has a very fresh scent. Will repurchase for sure.

Tools~
Clips are a must to section hair when blow drying and using a flat iron/curling iron.

The brushes shown here are the ones I use on a regular basis.
A round brush creates volume when blow drying.
A flat brush to blow dry the rest of my hair.
A Teasing brush (I think that's what it's called) you use it to tease your hair. The skinny handle helps to add volume or position the hair when styling.

Combs the pink one (lower left) it what I use when flat ironing my hair.
The blue one (lower right) is that I use after I wash my hair to get any tangles out.

Extras:
A shower cap is a must when you don't wash your hair everyday. I get mine for a few bucks a piece at any drugstore, Walmart, target, or TJ MAXX.

And last but not least, Velcro rollers.
I put these in the long side and back of my hair after is run my flat iron through my hair to create extra volume. They stay in place without a clip. Just leave them in while you apply your makeup or get dressed. Pull them out, spray your mane and you're all set!

I hope you found this helpful. If you have any questions please let me know.

Until next time!
Xoxo,
Adela

*Disclaimer- all products mentioned were purchased with my own money.

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
