Skincare Routine: Night Edition

Hope you all are enjoying your weekend!

While getting ready for bed the other night I decided to snap of pics and share my night routine with you. I struggled with acne when I was younger. It was during that time I realized how important it is to take care of your skin. This is what I do nightly to keep my skin healthy.

Let's get started...

The first thing I do is remove my makeup. I switch up my cleansing towelettes often. These are the ones I am currently using. They are Refreshing Equate (Walmart brand). The package says they compare to Garnier. I take off all of my face makeup with these.
For my eyes I use Maybelline Clean Express Makeup Remover. This is the gel-like one. I believe the other one is more watery. I haven't tried that one yet because I love this one so much. It does not burn my eyes at all and takes off my mascara like a breeze! I put a small amount onto a cotton round, hold is over my eye for about 10 seconds, and gently wipe my makeup away.

Quick tips: Store your towelettes upside down to keep the top wipes saturated.
Do not tug the skin around your eye to prevent wrinkles.

Next is cleanser.
I've used Neutrogena naturals for a few years now. I switch between this bottle (clear) and the makeup remover+cleanser (white bottle) Both work great and take off any leftover makeup your towelette missed. These aren't harsh cleansers. If you're having a hard time finding a cleanser try to look for one that suits your skincare needs.

Quick Tip: Be sure to give new products a good 2 weeks minimum before trying something new. It's normal for your skin to go through a "freak out stage" as it adjusts to a new product. As long as it's minimal (i.e. Small breakout)

Once or twice a week I scrub my face with this. Ocean Salt from Lush. It really is a blend of fine and medium sized salt and it smells very fresh and clean. Almost like a margarita.

Quick tip: Use light pressure when exfoliating your skin. You only want to remove your dead skin without damaging the new skin underneath.

I've been using this for about a week now. I've already noticed an improvement in the texture of my skin. I put this on before my moisturizer. The box says you can apply day and night but I've only been using it at night so far.

Quick tip: Apply serum to your neck too!

Moisturizing is the key to healthy skin. Even if you have oily skin, moisturize! I use Nivea when my skin is really dry (winter months). Aveeno is a good night cream. It makes your skin very bright and healthy looking in the morning. I switch up my moisturizers often.

Quick tip: Always make sure I pick a "night cream" for night time. They tend to be heavier and have lots of skin loving ingredients to help your skin repair itself at night.

Now for my favorite part...Eye cream! I've been using eye cream since I was 22 because I read in a magazine that was a good age to start preventing fine lines and wrinkles. Eye cream is another thing I switch up often (noticing a trend? Haha I like to try new things. What can I say!) This is the one I am currently using. Equate (Walmart Brand) Reviving Anti-wrinkle and forming eye cream. I don't have the box to this anymore but I believe this was compared to Olay or L'Oreal.

Quick tip: Use your ring finger to gently tap product to your under eye and lid area. I apply it out to my temples. Do not use firm pressure or tugging on that delicate skin!

I usually will brush my teeth and then apply my lip balm. These are my 3 favorite lip balms I keep them all over the house so they're always within reach.

That completes my night time skincare routine. I hope you found it helpful. If you'd like more information about any of the products or steps mentioned please let me know.

Until next time!
Xoxo,
Adela

*Disclaimer: All products mentioned were purchased with my own money.

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
