Hello again,
Let's talk about the NEW Bareskin Foundation from Bare Minerals.
WARNING: This was meant to be a review and turned into a long and crazy foundation history. If you are only interested in the review, please scroll down to "ADELA- GET TO THE POINT,"
First, I'll give a little history on me and Bare Minerals. I used the mineral foundation several years ago, I mean, I used to swear by that stuff. For those of you that didn't know, I suffered from acne in my late teen/early 20's. Thanks to Proactive (Yes, I'm a Proactive success story) my skin cleared up. I started using Bare Minerals (powder foundation) at that time because I actually had nice enough skin to show it off. Anyway, fast forward to my mid 20's. My skin started changing, those of you that are my age or older, you know what I'm talking about. Those of you that are younger, take my advice: Take care of your skin NOW! Don't wait till you get older. The key to maintaining a beautiful skin and complexion is prevention.
DON'T sleep in your makeup.
DON'T pick at or tug on your skin.
DO moisturize and wear sunscreen.
DO wash your face every morning and night.
Wow! That sure went way off course. Excuse the tangent. Moving on!
So my skin started changing and my "holy grail" foundation just wasn't cutting it anymore. So what now? Go back to liquid? Eww! After wearing something so light-weight on my skin, I cringed at the thought of a heavy, greasy, cakey liquid foundation. Thankfully, I follow Emilynoel83 on YouTube. She is a big fan of Laura Geller's Balance-n-Brighten Foundation. It is also a powder, but in a pressed form.
I decided to give it a try. Emily always raved about how it is a buildable product. I tried it once and was in love! I was like Bare Minerals with a kick! I still use it to this day. It's very light-weight, yet builable. The swirled pigments do exactly as the name implies, it balances and brightens your complexion. Now, being the makeup lover I am. When I saw the add for Bareskin I knew I wanted to try it. I picked it up last weekend and have been using it since...
ADELA- GET TO THE POINT!
So what do I think?
I like it! I've been using it for a week now. I've used it over top of various primers- loved it. I've powdered it- loved it. I've not powdered it- loved it.
So do you use the brush they made for it?
No, Ulta was out of them. I use a brush I had from It Cosmetics.
Is the coverage buildable as they claim?
Yes, They recommend using 2 drops on your entire face. I don't use drops. I apply a small amount on my finger tip and dab it around my face, then blend with the brush. During the week I apply one layer for light coverage. I have applied two layers for a more flawless look.
Would you recommend it to friends?
I would, but I would say to try it on in store first and ask for a sample. Only because I have seen reviews from other people saying they didn't like it at all and it made them oily.
If you made it through this entire thing without having to take a nap half way, congratulations! You deserve a high-five, a pat on the back, a hip-hip-hooray!
Sorry it was so long, I usually try to keep my reviews/posts short and sweet. But, I think it's important to know why people like the products they like and what kind of skin they have. If you've tried this foundation, let me know what you think.
Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela
