Halloween Series: Retro Glam

Hello again!

Today is all about getting glammed up! For this look we are using "normal" day-to-day make up products. Only we are pumping up the glam. This isn't just a look for Halloween... I would wear this out on a date or special occasion too. It's too beautiful not to!

Grab your makeup bag and your favorite red lipstick and lets get glam-ified!

Gorgeous, right?!?!

Face~
Start by applying a full coverage foundation. I used Rimmel Stay Matte. Make sure to blend it into the skin really well to achieve a flawless look. Apply concealer and set with a powder. Apply a light pink blush to your cheeks and a shimmery highlight on your cheek bones. I filled in my brows as I normally would.

Eyes~
We are keeping the shadow simple and focusing on the liner for this look. Prime your lids with your favorite primer. Apply a shadow that matches your skin tone (You can even go a shade or two lighter if you want) all over the lid. For a bit of a contour, apply a light brown shadow to the crease using a fluffy brush and a windshield wiper motion. Be sure to blend the shadow really well, we don't want any harsh lines.  For eye liner, I used a black gel liner from Maybelline. Winged liner is key to this look. If you have a hard time with winged liner use "The Tape Method". Take a piece of scotch tape and apply it several times to the back of your hand to remove some of the tackiness. Apply the strip of tape at and angle in a line that matches up with your lower lash line. Take a liner brush and apply your liner along the upper lash line continue the line along the edge of the tape. When you have your wing as long as you like it, remove the tape. Ta-da! Winged liner! Next, curl your lashes and apply mascara like it's going out of style. You can stop here or for some extra glam, apply falsies.

Lips~
Now for the wow factor, the red lips! Cover your lips with foundation or concealer to cancel out your natural lip color (this will also help your lipstick last longer). Line and fill in your lips with a red liner and top with lipstick. I used Plush Plum lip liner by Jordana and Certainly Red lip stick by Revlon.

Hair~
This was the most difficult and most fun part for me. I love this hair style! Keep in mind that I have really short hair. If yours is longer you can follow these same steps. Start by parting your hair on the side. Separate the top section of your hair from the length of your hair (as if you're wearing it 1/2 up 1/2 down) Taking a 1 inch curling iron, Section your hair. Curl the hair on the sides of your face towards your face. Your bangs sideways (curling them to the side you want the roll to lay). The back towards the back. If you have longer hair, curl the ends of your hair. Back to the bangs (where we want the roll) tease the life out of your hair! The volume will help to shape and hold the curl in place. Start smoothing and rolling the sections of hair into one smooth roll. Take your time to do this and make your roll as neat as possible. Use bobby pins and plenty of hair spray to hold your curl in place. For the other side I smoothed the hair out and pinned it behind my ear and added a flower for some extra glam.

For the outfit, just about anything "retro" will do. A dress and heels. Shorts, a checkered top, and some Keds. Capris, a button up top and some fun slip on sandals.

I love this look so much! I had a lot of fun creating this for you all. If you try it please share your pictures with me.

I have one last Halloween look for you, you wont want to miss it!

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
