Nail Art for Beginners

Hello to you all!
You all know I have a thing for nail art. Sometimes I get on a roll and do some kind of art every time I do my nails. Other times not so much. Believe it or not, nail art is pretty easy when it's broken down into steps. Today I will be sharing 3 basic nail art designs.

Polka Dots
Paint you nails any color you want. Taking a dotting tool (I got a set on amazon) If you don't want to buy a set you can use a bobby pin for small dots, a pencil eraser for large dots, or the end of a paint brush. Place a small amount of the color you want your polka dots on a paper plate. Dip your dotting tool into the paint and start with your dots. If you want random dots then just go for it! Remember to wipe the old paint off of your dotting tool if it starts to dry out. If you want more symmetrical dots, you can start by dotting down the center of your nail. Then dot the sides of that till you have the look you want. Remember to off set your dots. Otherwise you'll look like you have rows of dots across your nail.

Flowers
How many of you thought "You want flower?" when you saw that?!? Don't lie! haha
Flowers are a cute-sy design to add to any nail color. To make your flower "petals" Take the dotting tool size of your choice. Make 5 little dots in a circle, leaving the middle empty. Before they dry, take a marbling tool (it will come on the end of one of your dotting tools if you order the set) or a tooth pick, touch it to the center of the "petal", and drag it towards the empty space you left in the middle of the dots. This will make the "petals" look more like petals and less like dots. To fill in the center of your flower you can place a small rhinestone (also available on Amazon) using some clear coat or some glittery polish.

Leopard Print
You're going to be shocked when I break this one down for you! Start off by painting your nails the color you want. Then pick out the color or glitter you want as the center of the animal print and the color for the outside of the animal print. Using the dotting tool with the center color, make clusters of 3 dots all over your nail (pretend you are making small Mickey Mouse heads all over your nail)  Be as random as you can be with this. Remember to leave space for us to add the outside of the design. After you've added as much print as you want. Clean off your dotting tool and dip it in the outline color (I usually use black for this) Outline the dots you just made using C shaped shapes and dots around the center color. There is no right or wrong when doing this. You can also add dots of color in between the design if you want it to be a little fuller.

I hope you learned something new. If you try any of these be sure to share your picture with me!

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
