Makeup Memory Lane: Makeup Loves From The Past

Hey Girlfriend!

Haha! (I was trying to take myself back to my teenage years when I start started using makeup)
Today I thought it would be fun to talk about some makeup products I used when I was younger. If you're around my age then I'm sure you'll enjoy this trip down memory lane.

So get comfy in your inflatable chair and let's go!

Starting off with my very first makeup product...

Covergirl Clear Mascara~
I could not tell you how excited I was when my Mom FINALLY allowed me to wear this! Let's be honest, to an adult, this doesn't do a thing for your lashes. I can't say I'd use this as a brow gel nowadays. But back then, when I was what? 13 years old. I thought I was the coolest girl in town with my glossy lashes!

Covergirl Shimmering Sands Eyeshadow Trio~
Along with my mascara came this lovely eyeshadow trio. Now this is one thing I should still thank my Mom for (and Covergirl). It's still as good as it was back then. Sure it's light and you're not going to achieve a dramatic look with this. It's perfect for daily wear, in fact, I may go out and purchase one now because of this post. I couldn't get enough of this shimmery eyeshadow back in the day. And yes, I used the foam applicator..I didn't own makeup brushes back then, ladies!

Maybelline Kissing Coolers~
Please tell me that you screamed when you saw this?! I completely forgot all about this deliciously scented, greasy, marbled things until I saw them on Pinterest! I had the watermelon one (far left) It was utter perfection in a tube. It had absolutely no color (from what I can remember) and I don't know if it helped chapped lips. But who cared?? It was too cool not to have one of these bad boys tucked into the small-coin pocket of my L.e.i. jeans.

Kissing Potion Roll-on~
Oh, how I miss the days when I couldn't get enough of a sticky, overly glossy lips! Kissing Potion was my go to lip gloss. Why? Because everyone had it, it had a roller ball, smelled amazing, and applied WAY too much product to my lips. I do remember how annoyed I would get if it started leaking though, did yours ever do that?

Bonne Bell Flip Stix~
The coolest lipstick around! You had to appreciate the coolness of these flip up lip sicks. Sure the cap couldn't stay closed, but it didn't matter because you could keep a close eye on it from your see-thru purse. I remember having the popular "90's lip color" shade in this. I loved it!

Lip Smackers~
I don't recall knowing a single girl that didn't own a Lip Smacker. A prayer of every teenage girl was answered when they came out with the glittery ones! I quickly ditched the ole Dr. Pepper one and swooped on the first gem adorned cap I could find! I didn't care that the glitter looked crusty on my lips or that it scratched a little when I applied this. Oh no! The flavor was enough for me to keep coming back for more.

Now that I have officially covered my beloved make up products... I will move on to the rest of the goodness that made me feel like a Rockstar...

Juice Bar Cotton Candy & Gummy Bear Body Spray~
The best smelling body spray on the block. Eww! I can't believe I wanted to smell like a gummy bear. But I couldn't go without it. It was sickening how sweet these smelled but I wore them anyway.

Conair Heat Brush~
One thing I could not live without. My bangs had to be PERFECT! So much so that I would style them at night before bed, wouldn't dare sleep on them, and wake up with semi perfect bangs. I was so obsessed with my bangs that I specially remember a time when I was in trouble and my Mom said I could pick between giving up my makeup (gasp!) or my Heat Brush (double gasp!) Of course, I gave up the makeup. Is that nuts or what? haha!

Suave Passion Flower Hair Spray~
I needed something to hold my "perfect" bangs in place. I would carefully place each piece of my bangs and then spray the life out of them with this hairspray. It smelled good and it fit perfectly into the space along side my books in my Jansport.

Butterfly Hair Clips~
Come on! These were the best thing since sliced bread. No style was complete without these babies. Perfect bangs + Butterfly Hair Clips = Match made in Heaven!
If they were the stationary kind or the kind that fluttered as you bounced your little head around. They were fabulous!

I will end our trip down Memory Lane here. I had so much fun putting this post together and I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.
What were some of your favorite products?
Did you use any of these?

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
