Valentine's Day Glam: Soft Pink Eyes and Dark Berry Lip

Hello again,
Today I will share a makeup look that is perfect for Valentine's Day dates! Don't be worried about your lipstick smudging, wearing off, bleeding, or fading. The lip color I used for this look is ideal for a date night.

Here's a little ramble for ya: My skin is giving me a run for my money lately! Ugh! Blame it on age, the weather, the products I was testing! Whatever it is... I just want my normal, healthy, semi even skin back! Therefore, I am back to using my powder foundation until it clears up. It's lighter and it lets my skin breathe through out the day. Go ahead, take a peek of my misbehaving skin!

As you can see I'm thrilled to be taking this photo! Lol
Ok, Now that you've seen what I'm working with, You can watch me transform into "perfection". haha!

Here we go!

Before I started I applied a layer of Maybelline Master Prime in Blur + Smooth.

Today I will use a TON of concealer! I'm calling in the all stars: Maybelliene Fit Me (shade 15) and Instant Age Rewind (Brightening and Light). I applied concealer under my eyes, the center of my face, chin, nose, and forehead. I blend the concealer into my skin using a tapping/dabbing motion. I never, EVER rub or drag the concealer around. Right now I am on a kick using my fingers to blend, but I do use a brush sometimes.

I set my under eye concealer with Elf HD Undereye Setting Spray and buffed Laura Geller Balance-n-Brighten Foundation in to the rest of my face.

See how much more "perfected" my skin looks now? Let's do a little side by side comparison (brace yourself!)

Now our skin is an even canvas. Let's add some dimension back in with a little bronze/contour action! I used a stippling brush and Rimmel Sunlight Bronzer for this. I contoured the hollows of my cheeks and blended the color upwards. I also applied a touch of bronzer to my jawline and temples. Be sure to use a small amount of bronzer and apply more when you need it. It's easier to apply more than take product away.

Then I primed my eyelids with Milani Eyeshadow Primer.

To really add shape back into my face I filled in my brows. It's a labor of love I tell ya. But it is TOTALLY worth it. It changes the entire look of my face and makeup when my brows are done. First I apply a bit of wax to my brows and gently smooth it in, then I fill them in with the dark brown color and use the lighter color to blend the inner corner. I comb them through with this nifty little travel brow and lash comb from Ulta and top with clear brow gel.

Back to the eyes...
I applied Elf Long-Lasting Lustrious Eyeshadow all over the lid. The names are not on these products (nice one Elf!) But this is the pink one.

Using this shimmery pink shadow and a small detail brush I packed the shadow over the top of the pink base.

I applied this taupe/purple shadow into the crease with a fluffy brush.

Using a crease brush I applied this deeper almost eggplant color to the outer corner and slightly brought it into the crease for some depth.

Time to blend! Using my favorite blending brush of all time...Sigma E40. Blend your little heart out!

For a browbone highlight, I took this shimmery vanilla shadow on a flat shader brush.

Back to the dark eggplant color! I smudged this along the outer half of my lower lashline with an angled brush.

To blend out the lower lashline even more I applied this shimmery mauve shadow from the eggplant color to the inner corner with the same brush and blended them together where they meet.

I used the same shadow I applied for the browbone highlight and applied that to my inner corner with a small detail brush.

Now that I've bounced you around from shadow to shadow we can put the shadows and brushes down and move on to the rest of the makeup.

I curled my lashes and applied winged liner with Palladio Liquid liner and applied a few generous coats of Maybelline Lash Sensational Mascara.

This next step was SO irritating to me!!! I had planned on applying false lashes with this look. Needless to say...it didn't happen! My glue was clogged, a lash on the band was not laying right, I dropped the glue wand on the floor. It was a mess! These were the lashes I had planned on applying (grr!)

MOVING ON!

I applied Tarte blush in Daydream with a Real Techniques Blush Brush

For a gorgeous highlight I went for my old favorite, Mary Lou-Manizer from The Balm. I used a smaller face brush and lightly tapped the color on the top of my cheek bones and brought it up to my temples.

Now for my favorite part, the dark berry lips! I am absolutely blown away by this product! I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical of it when I saw it, which is why I only got one. I am kicking myself for not getting more! I really, REALLY put this to the test. Like put it on and rubbed my lips and nothing budged! I'm going to do a separate review on these, if I'm able to find more next time I'm at CVS. So keep an eye out for that. This is a two step process. First, you apply the lip color and let it set for a minute or two. It will feel tacky at first. Then you top it with Step 2. Step 2 is a gel like gloss/balm thing. It doesn't have a lot of shine and doesn't make it completely matte either, it's more a semi-matte finish.

I set eveything with a few sprays of NYX Matte Finish Setting Spray

And we're done! I was really happy with the way this look came together. If you were wondering, the lip color stayed put till I took it off around 9:00 pm!!

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and will give it a try for your date night (or Church like me)
Let me know what you thought of this below.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
