Faithful Friday: Finding Joy

Happy Friday to you!
Have any fun plans for Labor Day weekend? We are going to BBQ and I am looking forward to all of the delicious food and not to mention... it's a 3 day weekend! Woo hoo!

Today I am going to talk about finding joy. Before we get deeper into this post I want to share the definition of joy

Joy- a feeling of great pleasure and happiness

This may seem like a simple concept to grasp, especially for those of you that are naturally joyful. I'm not saying that I'm not joyful or that I walk around with a little rain cloud over my head. I think sometimes we get so wrapped up in the craziness and the hustle of life that we forget to have joy in the small things. If you read my last Faithful Friday post you know that I have been doing a lot of reflecting on my life and that I have decided to make this year better than the last.

That being said, I am making an extra effort to find joy. What do you mean, Adela???
I mean that I am taking the time to appreciate the smallest things. For example: My nail polish at the moment (Essie's Shine of the times, it's technically a topcoat but I just painted in on bare nails) It is a beautiful flaked glitter that changes colors as you move your hand. It totally reminds me of a mermaid for some reason. I realize nail polish isn't that big of a deal but the color makes me happy and when I look at it is makes me smile. That is finding joy.

Another- The tumbler I drink coffee out of everyday. Not only does it hold my precious coffee but it's cute too! I'll insert a picture below so you can share my joy. haha!

It doesn't matter how small it may seem, for instance taking a huge whiff of fresh brewed coffee. YUM!

Allow yourself to be joyful. For me, I am making it a priority because I feel like I am so blessed and I should take the time to appreciate those blessings.
Bottom line- Life is better when you are happy.

So I have a project for those of you that are up for the challenge...
Focus on finding joy over this upcoming week and then we will check in with each other next Friday and see if you had a better week as a result of it. You might be surprised at how much happier you will be!

I am going to wrap it up here, my friends! I hope you have an awesome and joyful week.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
