Halloween Series: Zombie Girl

Halloween Series
Zombie Girl

Hello everyone!
Are you ready to jump start this years Halloween Series?? I know I am! If you were with me last Halloween, then you know how much I LOVE it. I love getting dressed up and seeing what kind of makeup I can do. I thought long and hard about what I was going to do for you this year and I came up with some really cool ideas! So without further or do...

Let's get Zombie-fied!

Here is the finished look!
I decided to do two looks in one this time. The left side of my face was the girl before she is bit. The left side is the infection starting to show and change me into a zombie. This photo cuts my hair off but I slicked my hair back and added a cute bow from Claire's to the pre-zombie side. Then I teased my hair and applied some dry shampoo to the other side so it looked a bit more crazy.

Before I started, I primed my face with the thickest primer I own. Please do not skip this step. I learned from last year that I will break out (not super bad, but still) after I use products like the ones I used for this. Also, make sure you really deep clean your skin when you take this makeup off.

Ok, back to the tutorial!

I blended out a good amount of NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk all over my face because I wanted the pigments in the teal and blue paints to be as bright as possible. To blend Milk in I used a cosmetic wedge that I dampened with water. You can use a Beauty Blender or something similar if you don't mind staining and possibly ruining it. I used a cosmetic sponge so I could throw it away after. You'll notice I didn't make this white base very opaque. So just do a light layer over your face.

Using another dampened cosmetic sponge, I stamped on the teal color first. Then I went over it with the blue. I know in the photos I look really blue but it was actually a teal color in person.

Once I got my base color to my liking. I added a mix of teal and blue shadows to add more dimension to my face and to highlighted certain areas.

I darkened other areas with various blue shadows

Then I contoured my face with a dark blue shadow

To set the rest of my face I went in with elf High Definition Powder. Instead of brushing this in circular motions I stamped it over my face.

I wanted a dark base for this eye look so I applied this gel liner in black to my entire lid and created a cat eye/wing at the outer corner.

I pressed this metallic teal shadow over the inner corner of my lid.
You can use any color you want, this is your zombie! Or you can even do two eye looks- that would be really fun!

My crease was looking rather blah so I went in with this shadow and blended it up towards my browbone.

I took a small detail brush and Carbon from MAC and darkened the look and smudged some along the lower lashline.
I also filled in my brows with it because what proper Zombie doesn't have black brows? Haha!

Now is the time to let your creativity shine! It's time to create the infected nastiness!
Before I start this I want to say, you have to keep in mind that you are not going to look like a Zombie until this look is complete. So, if you feel like you look like a blue mess DON'T GIVE UP! Keep on adding to it and by the end you will like it! I'm saying this because I almost, ALMOST took this off and started all over again but I stuck with it and it came out pretty awesome, if I do say so myself.

To add in the infection I went in with a mix of gel liner on a small liner brush and liquid liner in a pen form for the areas I wanted more precision. Basically, what I did was make little weird shapes all over this side of my face with tiny dots around them. Then I filled them in with light and dark green shadows. For the teeth I drew them in with a black eye liner and then filled them in with NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk.

For the "pre-bite" side I lined and filled in my lips with Jordana Easyliner in Baby Berry and went over the top with Maybelliene Matte Lipstick in Ravishing Rose. I added a bit of a sparkly gloss over that for some extra girly shine.

Now for the bite! I wanted this to have a cartoon effect to it so I didn't get super detailed with it. To create the "teeth marks" I went in with a flat stiff shadow brush with some black shadow on it.

I added more defined lines with a black liquid liner pen and added more definition to the outside of the bites and don't forget the black dots! I filled the inside of the bite in with light and dark green shadows.

And we're DONE!!!
(There are a few extra things I did to complete this look. I will list that and the products I used below)

Here are some pictures of the finished look...

The "Pre-Bite" side: Isn't that bow ADORBS??!

The "Infected" side. Eww!!!

And BOTH sides! I had a lot of fun creating this look for you. I kind of felt like a real life Monster High doll. Haha! I make a pretty cute zombie, don't you think??

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
