Faithful Friday: I'm my own best friend

Hello and welcome back to Faithful Friday!
Have any fun plans for Halloween tomorrow? I am taking my nieces Trick-or-Treating with my sister. That always makes for a fun time. I hope you all have a safe and happy Halloween.

Today we are talking about a rather interesting topic, at least I find it interesting. haha!
One of my friends posted this on her FB page a few weeks ago. I read it and thought it couldn't be more true. especially for me.

First of all, isn't this picture just adorable?!

Now let's talk about why this quote struck a cord in me. I realize that most of you do not know me on a personal level. if you did then you would know that I have very few friends. I have a ton of acquaintances but VERY. FEW. FRIENDS. Growing up I had what I would consider a large number of "friends". Naturally at that time in my life, I thought those "friends" were everything. Life stopped without them! Haha. I remember my mom telling me that friends don't last forever (or something to that effect, I was a brat teenager who didn't listen to her  most of the time so that's why I don't remember exactly what she said)
As I got older almost all of them drifted away for one reason or another.

Now that I am older and my "Friends" are a very small group of women who I absolutely adore. They are more sisters than friends. You girls know who you are!
There are very few people that I consider "friends" at this phase in my life and I have to tell you, it is awesome not having very many! Seriously! No drama, no nonsense, nothing but true friendships! I don't spend nearly enough time with these amazing women. However, we understand that we have busy lives and schedules.

So how does this quote come into play?

The quote above says "When a woman becomes her own best friend life is easier"
I have done just that over the years. I look out for myself and I appreciate this drama free life. I am my own best friend and it's awesome!

Let's be honest, ladies. We are too stinkin' old to allow drama in our lives!
I urge you, if you have people in your life that make you miserable or bring you down... kick them to the curb! You don't need that in your life and you will be so much happier if you do.

I am going to wrap up here. I hope you enjoyed this post and will become your own best friend. Have a wonderful weekend! and I will see you back on Monday.

Until Next Time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
