Hello again!
Thank you for joining me today. I posted a video yesterday asking what you wanted to see today: new products I've been liking or a vanity makeover, and you chose vanity makeover! If you are not part of the "Adela Told Me Blog Group" on Facebook, PLEASE join us! (I will link it below) I post a lot of extras there and it's a great group of ladies who love makeup just like us!
This is going to be an overview of the organizers I used, prices, and where I got them. I am not going to go through the makeup I have in the drawers, however I plan on doing a vanity makeup collection for you so keep your eyes peeled for that.
Here is a picture of what I was working with before. My old set up was getting out of control with all of the Halloween looks I did. So it was time to clean out the stuff I wasn't using regularly. This area was a mess and would drive me nuts when I got ready in the morning. You can tell from the before and after (above) that I have totally redone this area and made it much more functional and the products I keep there now are actually products I reach for often.
I posted this picture a week or so ago. I was beyond thrilled to find these babies. They were exactly what I envisioned for my vanity. I mean, what self respecting makeup addict doesn't dream of an acrylic vanity?! haha!
I didn't plan a specific shopping trip for these, my mom and I were actually headed to TJMaxx for an eye cream I turned her on to (we didn't end up finding the eye cream but we did find the Bliss one which is just as good as the one we were on the hunt for) but I hit the jackpot when I came across these acrylic organizers!
AND before you nail polish people yell at me for the cuticle nippers, I don't clip my cuticles, I use these to get clip hang nails. Oh, and the tweezers are awesome! Super sharp and precise. Great find!
Ok, back to the vanity!
I debated on wether or not to get this lipstick organizer because I don't wear lipstick most days. I don't really have a reason for not wearing it. I love lipstick, I have a ton of it. I figured why not display my favorite shades so I will wear them more often? So I got it! This holds 18 lipsticks so it is the perfect amount to house the ones that I wear the most.
I was so happy to find two of these 2 drawer organizers.
I got both because I planned on stacking them, which you will see in a minute.
They are the perfect size for larger/longer products.
This was the organizer I was most excited for, there were actually two of these as well but the other one had a huge crack in the back so I decided to pass on it. So I only got one of them but as it turns out, I am happy that I only got one. Otherwise the area would have been too bulky.
On to the vanity tour!
As you may already know, I currently do all of my tutorials from my bathroom. Thankfully Mr. Adela Told Me doesn't occupy very much of the vanity so I get to hog most of it. haha!
I am working on a "beauty room" but it isn't blogger ready just yet.
Hopefully soon I will be moving to the new room and you will have a different background to look at.
Here is my new set up! I love it!
Now let's go through the set up. (We will go left to right)
I have the 2 drawer organizers stacked on top of one another with two palettes on top.
I am going to have to put some double sided tape between them though, because they don't sit perfectly on one another so the top organizer will slide around when I open the drawers.
For the middle section, I set the lipstick holder on top of the 4 drawer organizer. I also keep some of my smaller palettes nicely tucked into the space between the lipstick holder and the 2 drawer organizers.
Believe it or not, this was the toughest section to change for me. I use my butter glosses and lip liners all of the time so I needed to keep them handy but I wasn't willing to kick other products out of a drawer in order to make for them. So I got so mad that I gave up and went downstairs to get something to drink. As I looked in my cabinet I realized that I have a bunch of these smaller glasses that we don't use so duh! I plucked two out of the cabinet and darted back upstairs. I put my butter glosses in one with my eyebrow brushes and filled the other with my lip liners and other tools (tweezers, cuticle nippers, nail file, and other randoms in there). The tin with the cute skull and crossbones is from Target.
I already used this for my brushes with my old set up. The Real Techniques sponge is waiting for a new home. I wash this with soap before each use anyway so it doesn't bother me too much that I keep it on the counter like this. I am planning on getting a cute bowl or saucer to keep it on because it rolls all over the place.
And that is it, girlfriends! Oh, for those of you that are wondering, I keep my setting sprays in the medicine cabinet with my other face mists. I hope you enjoyed this post and found it helpful. If you want to share pictures of your vanity/makeup area please do! I would love to see them and I know the other ladies would as well.
See you back on Friday!
Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela
