Faithful Friday: What I am thankful for

Hello again and Happy Friday to you all!

Getting all geared up for Thanksgiving next week? I sure am. I was wondering...Do you have any Thanksgiving traditions? We really don't but I would like to get one started so please share your ideas!

Thanksgiving is probably my favorite Holiday because it is centered around family and being thankful. I always find that I feel extra blessed during this time of year, it could be that I actually am extra blessed or that I am just more aware of it. Either way, I love this holiday! No gifts, no hustle and bustle. Just quality time with the ones you love (and the ones you tolerate. HAHA!)

Today I will be sharing 5 things that I am thankful for, and please feel free to share what you are thankful for in the comments. I'd love to read them!

#1 My Faith
Obviously this was going to be included in today's post because we can't have a Faithful Friday without it, right?? You all know that my faith is very important to me. I've probably mentioned in past FF's that if I am not on track with God then I am pretty much useless to myself and my family. I won't get into a huge explanation with this but I will say that since I have made God my #1 priority, my life has changed in so many positive ways. As long as I keep Him first, I am able to keep the rest of my life in order.

#2 My Family
My family, Mr. Adela Told Me, and friends that have become family make me the person I am. They love me and all of my craziness and they will put me in check when I need it. I can honestly say that I have the best family and friends a girl could ask for. Each one of them blesses me in different ways and life wouldn't be the same without them.

#3 My Freedom
I don't believe I have talked about this much on here but I come from a Marine Corps family. I mean, like there is a wall in parents house with a HUGE Marine Corps flag on it surrounded by photos all of the Marines in my family. My Dad was the first and the tradition has continued with my brother, cousins, and my nephew leaves for boot camp in a few months. Mr Adela Told Me was also in the military, he joined The Navy but served with The Marines as an FMF Corpsman (which is basically the guy who saves Marines' you-know-whats in war). My Dad says that Corpsman are Marines and from what I've heard from other Marines "Real Marines love a Corpsman". Some of the men in my family have fought for the freedoms that we quite honestly take for granted. I don't think Veteran's get treated with half of the respect they deserve. Want to see what I mean? Next time you see one, maybe a man with a "Vietnam Veteran" hat on, like my Dad. Go up and thank him for his service. You'll be surprised by how surprised they are that you're thanking them.

#4 My Job
I know I for sure don't talk about this much on here and that is because I can't. Not that I'm some secret agent, but for the sake of privacy, I cannot tell you where I work. Like any job, it has it's ups and downs. Some days I want to pull my hair out and some days I feel like I skip through the day. I am fortunate enough to call some of my co-workers "friends" so that makes it that much nicer to come to work. No matter how stressful it can be, I am thankful for it. It gives me the ability to live the life I live. When I start to get to the boiling point, I try to remind myself how many people are without work and HATE the jobs they have. I know God put me in this place for a reason so I try my best to make the most out of it. Funny story about how I got this job: I had been laid off from my previous job and was sending resumes off left and right. I'd go in for interviews and didn't get hired. I was too experienced for certain positions and not experienced enough for others. I literally had just received my last unemployment check and was desperate to find a job. I saw this teeny tiny add in the newspaper that didn't really give much information about the job. I said a prayer and faxed my resume. I got a call the next day, interviewed the day after that, and started the day after that! God works in mysterious ways, my friends!

#5 You All
I am grateful for YOU! My readers, my supporters, my Adela Told Me Crew! Without you there would be no Adela Told Me... I love interacting and sharing with you all. I get so excited to read comments and hear your thoughts on my posts. You keep me motivated to keep going and put the best stuff out here for you guys. Thank you all so much! You have no idea how much your support means to me. I'm serious, guys. It really does!

Well everyone, that is what I am thankful for. I could have gone on and on with some enormous list of things but these 5 things are what I am most thankful for. Please feel free to share what you are thankful for in the comments section. I would love to read them! I hope you all have a wonderful weekend and I will see you back on Monday.

Until next time...
XOXO,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
