SensatioNail Gel Nail Kit Review

Hello again!
Today I am going to review The SensatioNail gel nail kit. This is NOT a sponsored post.

First let me give you a little background on this-
I purchased this kit years ago when it first came out, used it I think once and that was it. I was pleased with the results and application was easy enough because I am pretty much a pro at painting my nails (hehe) What I didn't like about it was how stinking hard it was to remove the gel after 2 weeks or so! It was much easier for me to use plain ole nail polish and take it off with my trusty acetone rather than try to scrape, file, and chip away at the gels. So the kit found it's way into a dark corner of a room to be forgotten all about (poor kit).

I will link to the kit below, I got mine at CVS because that was the only place near me that was selling this kit when it first came out, now they are available at CVS, Walgreens, and Target.

Fast forward to present day-
I was getting ready for a vacation and I did not want to worry about fussing over a nail polish while I was away. So I decided to try gel nails for the first time (in a salon). I wasn't expecting to like them but much to my surprise...I LOVED THEM!!! They looked beautiful and lasted so long! So now what??? Spend the $30 every two weeks to get them done? NO! I've had acrylic nails in the past and that is a habit I didn't want to start up again. I decided to try them myself, now where is that kit I had years ago?? Could it still be around?? YES! I found the kit and used it. Oh, and here is something really cool! The lamp still worked! I was so shocked, I thought for sure I'd need a new lamp.

Unfortunately, I do not have the pictures from the first time I tried them myself again but I'm sure they are on IG somewhere. However, I do have pictures of the french manicure I did. Don't get picky about the tips, I free handed them. Yes, free hand, people! It's harder than you might think.

Here is a picture of them right after application...

Not too shabby, eh?

Here is a picture of them 2 weeks later...
The thumb came off because I started picking them, I can't help myself! But still, look at what great shape the tips are in! I was very pleased!

But how do I get them off?? I'm glad you asked! Scroll down to see how I remove them.

It just so happened that as I was getting my gels done in the salon, a woman next to me was getting hers re-done which means she had to have them removed before they could put on a new set. So I spayed close attention to what "Jenny" or whatever the nail tech's name was, was doing.

1) Cut foil pieces large enough to wrap all the way around the tip of your finger. You want the foil to be as snug as possible so it really let's the acetone work it's magic.

2) Apply ACETONE. Pure acetone. to a cotton round or cotton ball. I actually cut a cotton round in half and that covers my nail just fine. You need a good amount of acetone on there so it can soak into the gel.

3) Apply the cotton round to the nail.

4) Cover with foil

5) Watch YT for 15 mintues

15 minutes later, this is what you will be left with. Weird right???
I use this cool little tool from SensatioNail called the "Removal Tool". This thing takes all of the gel off like a breeze! All you do is scrape the polish off, and no, it doesn't tear up my nails. Just be gentle and take your time. Once I get all of the gel off. I give my nails a swipe of acetone with a fresh cotton round and I'm ready to apply a new set!
(I'll link it below)

Clearly I love this kit! I have used it several times and always get 2 weeks wear out of my gels before I need to re do them. It was definitely worth the investment to me. The kit paid for itself within 2 applications of the gel (as compared to what I'd pay to have them done at a salon)
They have a ton of colors, I picked up a few more when they were on sale at Walgreens.

One thing I don't want to forget to mention is that you have to make sure to use moisturizing products around your cuticles after your new set is applied. I apply hand cream and cuticle balm like it is going out of style anyway. But the acetone will dry you skin out so make sure to wash your hands and apply your moisturizers after each new set.

I hope you found this review helpful and hopefully I taught you how to get those pesky gels off without ripping your nails up in the process.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
