Weight Loss & Healthy Eating Tips

Hello all!

Thank you for stopping by. Today I am sharing my tips on weight loss and healthy eating. Obviously, I am not a professional and I realize what works for me might not work for you. Hopefully some of you will benefit from this post.

Some of you may not know that I decided to change my eating habits and started working out last Summer and I have been able to loose and keep 20 lbs. off!  Over the years I have gone through phases of my life where I was really into fitness and ate really well. Then other times I could care less about what I ate and didn't work out at all.

First we will talk about why I decided to make this lifestyle change...
I call it a lifestyle change because it isn't a diet. Diets end. Diets are "I have to be good for X amount of days and then I can eat what I want" Which means -You are going to kill yourself eating spinach and chicken for 2 weeks and then hit up McDonalds like it's going out of style. Which also means- you will gain ALL OF YOUR WEIGHT (if not more) BACK! There is no point in that. I recommend eating in a way that is easy for you to maintain. Cut out foods you can actually live without. My goal is long term fitness and eating habits. Not short term.

What workout plan did I follow?
Bikini Body Mommy 90 Day Challenge. Yes, it is 90 days but in those 90 days you will get your body into a routine and you will see major changes in yourself! After my challenge is up Mr. Adela Told Me has started to create workouts for me.

Now I'll answer the 2 questions I always get asked:
1. "Are you on a really strict diet??"
In short and in order to keep peoples heads from exploding. I answer "yes" Although, as I said above I don't consider my way of eating a "diet".

2."What are you allowed to eat??"
Protein (Chicken, Beef, Fish aka MEAT)
Tofu (if you marinate it and cook it in a skillet, it's SOOO GOOD)
Vegetables (Yep, the entire garden)
Fruits (as much as my little heart desires)
Basically, anything you will find in nature. I limit my bread intake, like I hardly ever have a sandwich but when I do, it is amazing! I also limit rice and processed foods. Now for the real thing I cut out that will make people gasp...NO. FAST. FOOD. None. Nada! When do you think the last time a Lion was walking across the desert and said "Hey, I'm going to Taco Bell"?? Uh, no! That is horrible for you! That's why you feel like poo after you eat it. Your body doesn't know what to do with all of those chemicals. So I don't eat it!

How do I maintain this lifestyle?
Easy, I don't buy junk food at the store. I plan meals in advance, and I try to never go to the store hungry. The key to eating this way is having easy and quick snacks. Like snap peas and cherry tomatoes with low fat ranch. Delicious snack and you can grab that out of the fridge just as fast as opening a bag of potato chips. Or grab a piece of fruit. Simple!

In a nutshell, it is going to take MAJOR effort on your part to keep yourself accountable and not give in to food cravings. I would love to devour pizza, candies, cakes, and all of that. But I don't! I know how hard I worked to get that weight off. How much I wanted to cry when I felt how weak I had made my body. How amazing I felt when the first 5 lbs. came off. I realize that one piece of pizza isn't worth all of my hard work and I just keep going. I don't eat cheat meals. I don't tell myself "I deserve to eat the cupcake" (even though I really want it!) The fact of the matter is, If I wanted the bad food THAT bad, then I'd eat it. But it's just not worth it to me. I know that this is really hard for some people to understand and I hope that if you are wanting to make a change that this will encourage you to do it. If you need encouraging friends to be your cheerleader, I will be that person for you! You can do it, you will loose the weight. But you're going to have to be determined, be dedicated, and stay strong! I promise you, you will feel awesome when you get dressed and don't get down on yourself because your jeans are too tight.

I hope you all enjoyed this post. If you would like me to share some of my favorite healthy eating recipes, please let me know and I can definitely do that for you.

Until next time...
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
