Halloween Series: Sweet Sugar Skull

Hola Amigas!

This will be the final look of my Halloween Series. I hope you have enjoyed them so far. I love sugar skulls. Some of you may remember the sugar skull I did on myself years ago (pre Adela Told Me) I loved it so much that I decided to re-create it for you.

So grab your maracas and vamonos!

Isn't it awesome!?!

Step 1: Base Color
Apply a white base all over your face. I used NYX Jumbo Pencil in Milk. Blend it out with your fingers. We want it just white enough that our skin doesn't show through. I decided to use bright colors for mine. You can use whatever colors you like. Taking a hot pink blush (or  eye shadow) and a blush brush, apply a good amount where you'd normally apply bronzer and fill in the hollow area of your face. Also apply this color to your temples. Taking a purple eye shadow and a fluffy brush, apply this above the pink we just applied (where you'd normally contour your cheek bones) bring this color up to the pink on your forehead/temple area. This will add a fun pop of color to your face.

Step 2: Eyes
Draw a circle around your entire eye socket with a black liner. Start the circle above your eyebrow and continue around the entire socket. Top with a black shadow and a flat brush. Now we will draw "petals" around our eye socket using a black liquid liner. Fill in the petals with eye shadow (I chose blue and green). I also applied the green shadow all over the lid and under eye area. This added a slight green sheen and sparkle to the black area. Using the same liquid liner, line your upper and lower lash line. Finish with mascara (I planned on putting on falsies but couldn't find them when I did this)

Step 3: Decorating your skull
This is where the fun begins! (As if you weren't having fun already)
At the center of your forehead, draw a spider web and shade it with eye shadows. I chose pink and purple to incorporate the colors from the side of my face. I added a large 3 petal flower on my chin and shaded it in with the blue and green I used around my eyes. Continue adding designs all over your face. I continued doodling around until I ran out of room. I didn't want to crowd my face too much, so remember to draw a design and look in a larger mirror so you can get the full effect.

Step 4: Nose and Stitches
Fill in your nose in so it appears hollow. I used a combination of a black pencil and liquid liner.
For "Lipstick" I applied the hot pink blush all over my lips and shaded the inside with the purple shadow. Draw on your exaggerated smile line and stitches with a liquid liner.

Here are some pictures of the sides of my face, I mean, skull.

I really liked the way this turned out. I didn't add any rhinestones or glitter to mine. However, if I were wearing this out, I definitely would have added a ton of sparkles and shine!

To complete the look you can curl your hair (if yours is longer than mine), add a veil and some flowers.

I hope you had fun with this look today. Please send me pictures if you try it.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
