Beauty Room Tour!

Hello everyone,

Are you as excited as I am about this post?!?! I sure hope so. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself. For those of you that are not part of The Adela Told Me Blog Group on Facebook...you really need to join it! I share a lot more there than I do on here or Instagram. Plus, I post videos of me blabbing or getting ready. It's a lot of fun!

Anyway, back to the point of this post...

The Beauty Room Tour! (Queue magical sounding music)
If you have been a follower of mine then you know that all of my past posts were done in my bathroom and we have since relocated The Adela Told Me Headquarters into it's very own space! I can't tell you how thrilled I am to be sharing my sanctuary/lair/girl play ground with you. It turned out better than I expected and it completely represents me! It's cute, it's girly, it's pretty, and it's organized!

So, I welcome you to The Adela Told Me Beauty Room!

As you walk into the room you are greeted by my very old and sticker filled mirror. Sure it could be cuter but those stickers were put there by Mr Adela Told Me and it reminds me of our past so it's going to stay just the way it is.

Then we have our lovely window that provides a nice amount of natural light in my photos.

This little shelf is the perfect place to hold all of my nic-nacks, a few of my perfumes, and glitter polishes.

The chalkboard sign was a gift from my BFF Jamie. Hi Jamie!!!
The perfumes are DKNY Be Desired and Marc Jacobs Mod Noir.
The mason jar is an old cup we weren't using anymore filled with roses from The Dollar Tree.
The journal was a gift from my momma. Hi mom!!!
The box was a gift from Nydia. Hi Nydi!!!
And the glitter polishes are well...glitter polishes. No shout out for them. Haha!

We can't forget my beautiful cross. You guys know I am all about quotes. I saw this on Hobby Lobby's website and it was the perfect addition to my room.

In the space between my shelf and vanity/desk I keep this set of plastic drawers that house my planner supplies and makeup that I don't use everyday.

As the backdrop to my vanity I have these super cute quotes and my mirror.

The glitter photos/quotes/adorable things are from Michael's. These instantly caught my eye. First off, they are glittery (ooooh!). Second of all, they say cute things (awww!). Third of all, they were 50% off!!

Now prepare yourself for a mini melt down...
This mirror is my favorite thing in this room! I had planned on getting a mirror like this but had originally planned on a black on. Then I saw it in teal and I had to have it! It was an even sweeter deal because it was 50% off too! I purchased this from Hobby Lobby.

Now for the star of the show...The vanity!!
When I planned this room I knew I wanted space to use this area as a desk as well. Eventually I will bring our bill station into this room and do all of that from here.

All of these acrylic organizers are from TJ Maxx.

The lazy susan is from The Dollar Tree and it is the perfect way to access all of my little containers (aka old glasses we don't use) of tools, brushes, sponges, and lip glosses. I also have a few primers and setting sprays as well.

To the left of my vanity/desk I have this little cubby. Oh and before I forget- the shelf, desk, and this cubby came as a 3 piece set from Walmart. The chair is also from Walmart (you know I'm a bargain shopper!)

The "A" is from Hobby Lobby. It came with clear bulbs but I ordered teal ones to match the mirror. The journal was a random purchase from JoAnn's. I actually picked this up when I was gathering supplies for the fall wreaths I made last year. I have to be honest, I am not much of a journal keeper but I loved the pattern and the quote (big surprise) so I couldn't pass it up. The heart bowl is from the Target dollar spot. It is the perfect size to keep chap sticks, a lighter for my candle, perfume samples,
and a lip scrub.

On the second shelf I keep extra brushes and larger palettes. I have been on the hunt for a cute file organizer to stand these palettes up on but has yet to find one. So for now the palettes will stay stacked like this.

In the cubby I keep my makeup bags. You guys know that I pack my makeup and bring it with me to work every week.

On the other wall we are greeted by our beautiful friend, Marilyn. You guys have seen her in my videos. I was given this photo years ago and it is too timeless to let it go. I mean, how can you have a beauty room without a glamorous photo of her?

Right below Marilyn I have this little shelf with my polishes on it. You guys have seen how many times I have re-arranged this polish! I hope this is the last time I am going to do this and I am really happy with the way this looks now. The polishes are on wire spice racks from The Dollar Tree. I was able to fit 2 per shelf. In order to keep the polishes from falling through the wire I cut some poster board and taped it to the shelves.

One last thing I want to show you is the way I organize most of my scarves. (Yes, I said MOST. I have a few more in the closet but I wont include those today). I had this old over the door shoe organizer and thanks to Pinterest, I folded my scarves and neatly tucked them into it. This has made it so easy to pick a scarf!

And that concludes our tour of The Beauty Room! If I make major changes I might do an update eventually. I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I did. I have to tell you that this room is such a nice place to come and I am so happy it is finally complete!

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
