Faithful Friday: Fruit of The Spirit: Joy

Hi guys!
Today we are continuing on with our Fruit of The Spirit Series. Today we will talk about the second fruit which is Joy.

If you missed last weeks post, where we talked about Love. Did you complete the assignment and show love 7 times this past week? I did! But I totally forgot to log them. I have to admit, it felt pretty good spreading love around!
The link below will take you to last week's post.

If this is your first time joining in on this series I will include the same photo that outlines the topics we will talk about over the next couple of weeks...

Let's get joyful!

That song "I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy, joy in my heart. Where? Down in my heart" has been stuck in my head since I started this post! Now I am sure it is stuck in yours too. Sorry! haha!

The first thing I think about when I hear the word "Joy" is a bible study I did months ago called "Choose Joy because happiness isn't enough" I will link that below as well. Beyond that, I think about how I am given a spirit of joy by God. In John 15:11 it says "These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full". Seems easy enough, or is it??

What does "Joy" mean?
The dictionary says- "a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.

How to we apply joy to our daily lives?
I don't want to come off as a negative Nancy, but I am going to be truthful with you all (like always) I don't skip through my day with a huge smile on my face. However, since I have started planning out this series I have made it a point to be more joyful. I sometimes smile for no reason. Yep, even if I am driving in my car alone. I will smile. I read somewhere that smiles triggers sensors in your brain to release endorphin's (the chemical in your brain that makes you happy). I make a point to smile at strangers that I make eye contact with. Maybe even a simple "How are ya?". But why?? Well, because I hope that maybe someone will start to notice how joyful I am eventually and ask me why I am so happy. Then that is my opportunity to share God with them. Simply put, I smile because I am blessed. Go ahead, think about your blessings. I'll wait (queue hold music) I bet you smiled, didn't you?

So just like last time we have a goal! Let's be joyful this week. Smile, laugh, and have fun! We can brighten someone's day. We can make ourselves have a better attitude. Let's produce these fruits TOGETHER. We can do it, girls!

Next week we are talking about Peace. So be sure to check back for that! I hope you all have a joyful week.

Until next time...
Xoxo,
Adela

Get Ready With Me: Sick, but you'd never know it!

Welcome back! We've all had days when we're feeling under the weather and would rather stay in bed all day. Unfortunately, life doesn't always allow us to do so. I had one of these days this past weekend... it was Jr. Prom night for my nephew which means, photos with Auntie (he loved it, trust me)  Here are my tips and tricks on how to look your best when you're feeling your worst.  Let's get started... First things first, start with a clean face. Then, moisturize and prime your skin. I used a heavier moisturizer under primer because my skin tends to get very dry when I'm not feeling well.  An oldie but goodie is Rimmel Fix & Perfect Pro Primer. This is about $5 at Target or drugstores. Concealing is always important. Especially when you're sick. I applied Age Rewind under my eyes and Dream Lumi around my nose to hide extra redness. I blended them in with my fingers using light patting motions.   I evened out my complexion with two fairly recent products...

Adela's at home pedicure

Welcome back! Spring is officially here which means warmer weather and cute sandals! It's time to get those tootsies back in shape! Now I can admit, a professional pedicure can be nice. But if you are short on time and want to save some cash why not do it at home? Today I'll share my at home pedicure routine. I do this year round (Once a month in the winter. Twice a month in the spring/summer). Let's get started... Here are the supplies you'll need: A towel Nail Polish remover Cotton balls Sugar scrub Bath Salts  Lotion Manicure kit Cuticle oil Cuticle remover  Rubbing alcohol in a spray bottle Nail file Buffer Pumice stone  Correcting pen Orange stick Clippers Cuticle clippers Base coat Top coat Polish of your choice  Large bowl to soak your feet I know that seems like a lot, you probably already have these items. If not, you can find most of them at your local dollar store.  Step 1. Remove old polish. This is the polish remover I use. Any brand will work. Step...

I went shopping!

Hello again, Let's be honest, we all love to see what others buy. I know I do! I've picked up some new beauty products and I thought I'd share them with you. This is several trips/purchases put together in one post. Grab a snack and some iced tea. It's going to be a long one!  Here are the goods. Some are repurchases, some are new. I can't wait to dig into these babies! I'll say a bit about each product.  Covergirl Clump Crusher- I've been a long time fan of Covergirl mascaras. Clump Crusher has made it's way into my favorite spot. It has a plastic brush with a curve to it so it easily reaches all of the lashes. As the name implies it doesn't clump AT ALL! I didn't believe it till I tried it and now I alway have a tube of this. I stock up when it's buy one get one 50% off.  I ordered the next three products off Hautelook a few weeks ago. This is the foundation I always use. It's several shades swirled together as a liquid then baked on a ...
